Hi, I have purchased a 2nd hand steering control module 8PO953549F to go with my existing slip ring 1KO959753D. I followed the procedures in Ross tech but couldn’t get the esp and steering wheel warning lights off. Do i need to code in the new module? When I checked the steering assist measuring blocks the steering angle sensor was stuck on 0.00.

I've done exactly the same thing and I think you need to run the adaptation for the new steering control module.

I haven't done this yet though as my car is currently on SORN.

Thanks for the quick response.

I have seen that i need to go into
Adaptation-10
Channel 81
input code 00111
And save

I’ll have a go at this today.

everything else works as it should I just can’t the the ESP and steering wheel lights off.

Thanks

Let me know how you get on. As I have to do this soon I would be grateful to know if easy or not!

Good luck

Hi, I had a go the other day, but was unable to calibrate the steering angle sensor. No matter what I did it stayed on 0.00.
The adaptation option on 16 steering wheel was greyed out.

I’ll keep trying though.....

I'd better have a go with mine pretty soon then.

I'm on the latest version of VCDS.

Once you plug ur 1 in you shouldn't get the greyed out module 16

I have read a lot of forums and it seems like one you have plugged you module in all you need to do is follow the basic settings and this should clear any steering wheel errors.

But I read a forum the other day and it said that if you have a 2nd steering control module you need to ‘tell’ the car and code it in vcds steering wheel-Adaptations.

Is this right? It’s just adaptations is greyed out

Just for an update, I have now sorted my car with the new module.

Two errors were present that needed sorting with the new module/wheel.
02256
00778
The 00778 needs to be sorted before the 02256 can be fixed. Ross tech cover both procedures if you search for the code above and follow diagnostic procedures. Be sure to follow the prerequisites before hand also.

I can be more specific if required, just conscious of breaking forum rules by linking to other sites (Must refresh my knowledge of the rules!).
