Advice wanted on fitting new rear inner tail lights

I've just ordered some new replacement inner rear tail lights for my 2006 Sportback. The original ones have faded quite badly and polishing didn't help.

I was wondering what other people's experience of replacing the lights has been. I assume a like-for-like swap is straightforwrd? Has anyone had problems with this? Is there anything I should be aware of?

I'm new to the Forum so if anyone is aware of existing discussions on this then please point me in the right direction.

Nope remove the plastic flap, 10 mm socket, don't drop the plastic spacer/holder, remove the electrical connector and it wiggles/tilts off ( got 2 lugs that wrap around the edge of the boot) dead easy job

If it's like for like, just disconnect the battery swap, then reconnect, dash lights will go out on a drive.
 
Sometimes the ce module is a bit temperamental, so to avoid detection of no lights connected, I would take battery of whilst you swap unless you have vcds to clear errors, you're choice.

I wasn't aware of that so thanks for the advice. I expect I will disconnect the battery in that case.
 
@Simon50s where did you get the inner lights from? I have the same issue with mine.

Hopefully that link works.

I used Autodoc.fi (Finland) which seems to be pretty much the same as the UK version. I'm waiting for the lights to arrive before I can comment on their service. As mentioned in my other post, I used the Magneti Marelli part numbers as the Autodoc's own search results may not provide what you need.

I came up with these part numbers for my 2006 Sportback:
Left side inner OEM Part No. 8P4 945 093 B
Right side inner OEM Part No. 8P4 945 094 B

Magneti Marelli part numbers
right passenger side 714027760801 LLE731
left passenger side 714027760701 LLE732

There seems to be lots on eBay UK but that wasn't an option for me being in Finland so I decided to go for some new ones which were Original Equipment. I imagine most second hand ones will also have suffered fading. I wonder if they're made from different plastic than the main tail lights.
 
Strange how the link I included shows as a standard hyperlink on my laptop but using Tapatalk on another device it shows as a large clickable image.
 
It seems that Autodoc.co.uk and Autodoc.fi have extended their 'Black Friday' offers if anyone's interested in taking advantage of that. It must have brought in some good business for them. Maybe they'll extend it to the end of the year :tearsofjoy:
