Followed the advice given and detailed my car without claying. Used Ag magma and tar remover before polish.

Happy with my results.

I finally bit the bullet and paid someone for a stage 1 correction and a 3 year ceramic coating. To say I'm pleased is an understatement.

Finally got some cleaning stuff together to clean my car instead of taking it to the local hand car wash and since lock down nowhere has even open around here.

Took wheels off and give them a deep clean. Blit Hamber auto wheels took 99% of the dust off. Then sprayed some carb cleaner on them to get rid of the tar spots, worked a treat.

Then using a new to me pre wash ( valet pro citrus pre wash ) I washed the very dirty car but I’m happy with the results and the pre wash seems just as good as snow foam. Only down side is it dries quickly compare to snow foam but it still done its job in my eyes maybe I just need a better sprayer so I can cover the car quicker as I’ve only got a small hand held one.

Upon washing I realised some kind soul has done some damage to my rear end. But. Massive amount but nether the less really annoying. Doesn’t look like a car scrape as he expect the scratches to go along the car and not up.

The scratches should polish put no bother. Or at least the majority will. They don’t look too deep just more of a scuff.

wish i had them wheels on my A3 absolutely love them.

the wheels ain’t genuine Audi ones just after market wheels. And I show to say there solid. I’ve hit a kurb and was very surprised how little damage there was.

Do you recall which after market wheels they are? Look good!

no mate. I just remember the company I got them from up in Newcastle.

there called crowther lodge motor company.

if I remember correct Audi oem are et 40 and these are et 45. But had zero issues at all. Where I live there’s some canny pot holes and I’ve got zero buckles etc, I honestly thought being after market they would be rubbish.

Only issue I’ve got is a few small spots where the diamond cut part is starting to go bad so they will need recut. Totally my fault because I’ve neglected the car since around August last year it’s only had 4 car washes from the local hand car wash and they use strong stuff on the wheels

they were 748 for all 4. Then tyres

Some detailing done yesterday
Caravan detailing lol - Only the wheels tho' ;)

Cleaned all 4 wheels & applied 3 coats 20 mins apart of Planet Polish Wheel Seal & Shine
Tyres still don't need dressing as the 'van hasn't moved since mid-March :(
Must admit I do like the matt finish tyre dressing the supplying dealer used/uses - will be asking what product it is when the van goes in for service when things improve

I have noticed that there seems to be a staining or discolouration on a couple of my alloys. This photo was taken the day after a wash.

Can anyone tell me what could have caused the staining and what I can do to get rid of it.

I cleaned my wheels this week with Meg’s hot wheels and magma.

After 8 weeks and one day of being sat on the drive gathering dust between washes I need to go out. So time to get it dirty :racer:

@jamiewatkins2004 - Believe it or not I haven't cleaned it yet!
We only collected it less than 2 weeks before lock down & the supplying Dealer had given it a good clean prior to handover

I have a 'spare' bottle of Gyeon Cure which I have ear marked for the 'van
However after having a rummage around my detailing products I have 'found' 2 bottles of Turtle Wax Hybrid Sealant Hydrophobic Wax

Decisions decisions ...

Either way I ain't looking foreword to putting a coat of protection on an 8m caravan :(

Yeah I did mine a few weeks ago, takes ages. Best get some protection on sooner rather than later as it makes subsequent washes so much easier.

First day off work today, so have spent the day doing a full light detail on my wide body a6. Wheels, tyres, deep clean wash, dried, panel prepped and two coats of boost si spray.
Seats out, carpets hoovered shampoo, ans dried, and fitted my 2018 so flat bottom steering wheel.
Looks great, until it rains tomorrow and gets dirty again haha

Looks great, just need the new wheels on

Need new tyres first, turns out one of them had a big screw in, thankfully the tyres on them are budget ones, and got some money back from the seller. Still not sure whether to go for PS4's or Assy 5's.

Ah nightmare mate, I’m going for PS4’s next, stats are slightly better and only cost couple £ more

Took the S3 to the office today instead of the A1 so gave me an excuse to wash her after all the bugs after the 150 miles round trip great drive, once back she was soaked in snow foam for a pre wash then all badges and crevices hit with a badger brush soaked in water then, all rinsed off while it was dwelling the wheels were hit with Bilt Hamber wheel cleaner and left to dwell, once the foam was washed off the wheel bucket and brushes were used to clean all the dust off the wheels, then rinsed, then the car wash given the two bucket wash with a G tecnic wash mitt and Bilt Hamber auto wash, then all rinsed and towel dried with silver back drying towel, all glass went over with a glass microfibre to remove any left water marks or streaks, then when all was dried a final costing of kamikaze overcoat to top up the ceramic coating, and yes I am a geek but Webster it’s my S3 or the A1 love a bit of detailing . Still had tyre dressing to do before photos sorry.

Gave the engine bay a detail for the first time today, it was only a bit dusty but never attempted it before. Was so pleased with the results I even gave my partners fiesta a quick once over, which was in a bit of a sorry state!

Did you run out of space in your plastic recycling bin?

Some plastic collected under that Fords bonnet, made me smile.

Top job though, looks much, much better!

Haha that was just me paranoid about water getting where it shouldn’t! Probably a bit overkill but didn’t want to chance it

Both the cars have done hardly any mileage recently, probably 30 miles each in the last month. Both had a decent detail a month ago, but it's pollen season...

One

So gave 'em both a decent maintenance wash. Not really detailing, just a ruddy good and careful clean. Both were properly chemically decontaminated and paint sealed last time, and the protection on both is still strong with plenty of beading on slick paint with gloss already locked in.

I think I have a new fave combo for the S3 - Turtle Wax Dry and Shine (wet coat product) topped off with Gyeon Cure gives fantastic results.

Seven

Four

Three

Eight

And then I got the boy's new bike mounted on the garage wall. It's a good time to get kids out on (and off) the road cycling at the moment. Hardly any traffic/people about at all!

Not necessarily detailing related, although I did give the car a routine wash yesterday. More importantly I’ve finally got the new wheels on the GTI (ended up going for Goodyear asymmetric 5’s) and I’m very happy with how they look, they really change the overall appearance of the car. I’ll upload some better pictures after I’ve done some much needed paint correction.

Thought it would be a good time to detail the nut covers:

Used a little APC and gave the nut surrounds a good clean out too. May have gone a bit pic heavy here!

Just regular cleaning really, and a bit of care when approaching curbs!

I know they're a bit old school now but I do love the rotor alloys. Here's a nice pic after a good dose of Collinite 845.

Lovely - I've never kerbed my alloys, but they do seem a bit prone to picking up little chips, presumably from flying stones/grit etc which is annoying to say the least !

No point detailing the car today - hasn’t been used enough since the last wash. So took the boy out on a 20 mile hack about Warwickshire bridlepaths and countryside. Great day out. Just wish the pubs were open so we could’ve stopped off for a steak sandwich, chips and a pint!

Bike was (literally) covered in ***** when we got back, so gave it a detail - snow foam and pressure wash (because why not, lol), full degrease of the drive-train with Surfex HD (before re-lubing with GT85), then a hand polish with an old bottle of Mer I had kicking around in the garage as the frame had a few light surface scratches. Finished with Sonax BSD for a bit of protection, and dressed the tyres with Tac Systems Tire Gel.

65838D04 80D7 48F7 976D 32CE9CE68119

Then gave it a mini service - gave everything a quick tighten up, replaced the pads on the hydraulic disc brakes, re-pressurised the front shocks and fitted a new bell. The bell is great - and a must for letting walkers know you’re approaching. This Crane bell is mega loud - has a right good GET OUT MY WAY ‘ding’ - reckon it’ll even work on headphones wearers. I’m a sucker for good design on otherwise mundane items.

6DD94DEB 1E03 40CB A43C 26717F282860

The bike is 5 years old now, but still a great bit of kit - Scott carbon fibre frame (so ruddy light for an MTB) with Shimano Deore XT full groupset - and after today’s session, looking like new.

Top day, and the boy was buzzing after the ride.

Just a quick clean as done a deep clean a few weeks back and the car hasn't moved, just to get rid of the dust and bird mess.

Car is getting wrapped this week so although I know the wrap place will clean it, figured if I could make it as clean as possible it makes their life easier!

Also used the new quick connect Lance and what a bit of kit that is! Huge time saver and a lot easier than the massive karcher Lance!

***** upload quality, also good to see the ceramic coating I put on my summer wheels done it's job! Water beaded off a treat.
