Hi,

I'm currently looking at getting my Audi A5 remapped.

It is an A5 Sportsback, 2.0 TDI Quattro - 2014 Plate

I have been advised that i should see the following increases:
  • BHP from 177 to 220-225bhp
  • Tourque from 380nm to 460-480nm

Question is will the above increases be noticeable?

Also one concren that I have in the back of my mind is that could a remap cause issues... Am i being overly cautious?

I don't have the same car as you but have a 170 bhp A6. I only have a bluefin map so not too aggressive. Every so often I'll put it back to standard to remind myself and it doesn't take long for me to flash it back. I wouldn't be without it now

Thanks mate, i'm looking at a custom remap at the moment as Bluefin/superchips have gone in to liquidation due to COVID-19.

Do you know what increase you got on yours?

I didn't know that, what a shame.

I've never had it on a rolling road so can only quote the figures from their website. I think bhp was just over 200 and I can't remember what the torque increase was. I've just tried to look online but it won't show me which is probably down to them going down the pan.

Also just to answer your other question, I've had no issues what so ever. My clutch us starting to slip but as far as I'm aware it's on its original clutch at about 128000 miles.

Had my old TT remapped and really noticed the difference, went from 180 to about 215 and it wasn’t just the additional power, but the overall delivery was far smoother. It also improved my economy.

Thanks for sharing, unfortunately Kent is a bit far for me to travel. I'm nr Chester, Cheshire

Hi mate, not far from me then...I'm a stones throw from Cheshire Oaks, The Zoo, Greyhound Park etc.

A mate of mine had his Ford Kuga remapped a few months back in Warrington, he said he doesn't feel much difference apart from it being a bit smoother despite the increase in bhp and torque. The guy that did it did warn him that it 'could' put more strain on his engine etc.

Two options I can think of:

1) Have you looked at a pedalbox? not fully up on them but I believe it's less risky that a remap.

2) Speak to Martin at Unit20 in Neston about your options, I always take my cars there and he's the only person I trust, he knows his stuff and has a great reputation, people travel from all over to use him https://www.unit20.com/tuning as an example: My 2nd service Audi wanted £452, Martin did it for just under £200 using Audi parts and even updated my online service record with Audi!
