Do tell Pie Eyed... i've been struggling to get the leather on the steering wheel back to original, what's the trick?
Ignore this - saw the earlier posts.

Give it a go Mike, I read about it in an old thread on here.
The missus had one under the sink so I gave it a go.
And voila!
I don't imagine it's good to do it regularly though, but shouldn't really have to.

Would B8 pedals fit? Think the accelerator probably wont, but clutch and brake?
Had genuine TT ones in caddy and the polo has them but copies which are as good as the vag ones.

Just finished changing plate light had standard ones but put led bulbs and didn’t works well, had error on plus they pulse all the time. Order LED ones with no error but couldn’t take screws off... what a job, took me about hour, screw bit round, tried drill first with too small drill bit and didn’t get screw head off then can’t go through screw with bigger one because of bad angle, no much access with bigger drills or screwdrivers, find on few forums to brake old plastics and just grip on screw to unscrew but honestly they making harder plastic then metal screw wtf, first one brake pretty well and got the screw off second one plastic left around screw and can’t get grip on it... had to try cut off plastic round but can’t gets to it.

Any good tips on removing baked on breakers yard chalk pen. Tried a little WD40 but that's not cutting it (literally)

How did you find the job in the end? Did you enjoy the very detailed instructions?

I some how snapped the two bolts holding the intercooler to the crash bar, it just wouldn't tighten all the way and when I tried to undo the bolt it snapped I did the same with the other side god knows why really don't get it but either way my crash bar has a couple scratches as it ended up across the driveway while I wet on the hunt for some more nut and bolts and ended up dismantled an old weights bench, apart from that it was straight forward enough, flipping hard getting the cold side pipe onto the engine though.

I've only put on the turbo side hoses so far as I've bought a spare PAS cooler and hoses and am going to see if there's a nicer way to mount it rather than just bend the existing one.

The intercooler fitted without issue but yeah, the hardware kit is cheap as ****. The instructions are pathetic.... going into great detail about removing the bumper but then incredibly vague about everything else. Got my rubber bungs in today for the map sensor, but I know the bolt holes aren't sealed so the whole lot is going to end up siliconed to ****. The wrong size boss for the map sensor is **** considering how long the product has been out, and their fix, sorry their bodge of including the metal adaptor, just doesn't work unless it's sealed.

I expected better. Lesson learned. Would not recommend.

Try spit, gross I know, but it removes more than you think, bird boop included.
Or try those wonder wipes, trade wipes or similar, but they may take sheen coat off.
T cut possibly an option.

You are not the only disappointed buyer Scott, still it's nearly all fitted now so that's another item ticked off your job list.

Yeah the map sensor fitting seems to be the issue they cant fix for some reason or another even though there's an easy solution, I have nothing to compare it to as this is my first turbo car but went solely off the recommendations of the car scene in general as airtec have a very big and strong following in the modified car world and ford fan boys love them so I also expected better, happy now its all on and done but expected a better product overall given there rep.

I had the same problem when I installed them on my B6 .... I used a hammer and an old small screw driver to break the plastic around the screw ... them use grips to remove the screws ... replaced with self tapers .... once on fault free & look amazing .

That's a bummer :scared2: , they are miles out, most certainly not oem back boxes, can you adjust them by some chance.
On a positive note, the valance looks spot on chap.:icon thumright:

if only u could just turn the boxes over as it look like it was put together incorrect

They were set up right for the body kit that was on the car.

Would it be possible to flip the back boxes?

Current options I can think of:

1. New valance (unlikely as the exhaust placement is odd)
2. New back boxes (not sure what I need)
3. Get a welder to chop off the tail pipes and put them in the right place (can of worms no doubt)
4. Leave the valance off until I work out what to do...

Currently favouring option 4.

But agree @I'm Just Rob. It does look good :) apart from the obvious. FML its never easy.

best bet would be to take to a custom exhaust place and see if the boxes could be cut and just flipped over but I'd say that would be to easy. being a audi but they would be able to make something custom if needed and wouldnt be too much damage to your pocket.
Also not sure if it's your cup of tea but when I had mine I had both back boxes removed just a nice straight pipe.

Aye, all good light working well plus no more error on screen. But so much effort with such a small think. I spend less time to take whole front bumper off and replace grill..

I replaced my original bulbs with led ones, with in built resistor, then after about 6 weeks there was a smell of burning plastic, and error message, one bulb had got so hot it was all black and charred.
Replace these with complete led light units, again ok for a while, then once more error message due to it getting hot and turning black.
Next was a genuine led set, lasted ages, but the other day after a long drive 200 miles down the motorway, when driving slower locally where my son is, starts chiming again. All looked ok, and was fine when driving back on motorway, think it was overheating and resistor failing causing the error when slow, cooled enough at speed to stop.
Wouldn't throw error on way to work on short trips, but again on long trip back to Bristol same thing.
I've ended up soldering a ceramic resistor in the loom inside the tailgate, to give it load and no errors, and in future if need to change units then easier (apart from screws possibly!)
A plug in loom is available for it, but was £28, and similar effort to fit, so I went cheaper option at 99p.

Guess who has stripped one of the threads on the map sensor boss trying to get a f*cking seal on it today.

Feel your pain.

Anyone got any tips for extracting corroded T30 bolts. Unfortunately it's not in a position to cut a slot in the top.

Currently planning to araldite an Allan key into it.

You chap's are not having a good day, take break , have a cuppa and then get back to it with.

My day just got better, delivery just arrived , not as delayed as expected, I've replaced the broken spring a few days ago, practice I suppose.
