- DRIVE SELECT - Dynamic D?

Hey guys,

just a quick question, when turning the car on from cold or warm after leaving the Drive Select mode in Dynamic it starts in D not S?

Does the dynamic profile still make the car run as if it was in dynamic or is this some sort of auto comfort mode you have to change upon every start of the car?

Any comments/info would be greatly appreciated.

You need to use the search button as loads of questions on this. Drive select modes all reset to auto even if it states dynamic onboard. D and S modes in the S-tronic are, as far as I know, not connected to drive select, because I think you can be in S mode and still in Comfort in Drive select? Could be wrong!

From what I gather it’s doesn’t even know it does say it u have to manually press the button and go through it again. This is to not put strain on a cold engine

If you have mag ride on your car then the settings will remain in dynamic on your suspension ie stiff and the valves on the exhaust will remain open. The engine and gearbox will revert back to auto also the steering will remain in dynamic.

So if I was to put it into Dynamic and put it back to D I’d essentially be back in comfort? Bar the stiffened steering and suspension (also valves open)?

Forgot to ask if you had 'mag ride' ?
In answer to your question yes your gear changes and throttle response reverts back to 'auto'
If you have mag ride then they will stay in 'dynamic' mode also steering.

My gearbox is playing up as well, when it's in day mode (D) it works fine and I can drive around all day, but at night when I put into night mode (N) it doesn't move! The other day I was as at the lights and a boy racer pulled up next to me in a Corsa, so I put the car into race mode (R) and waited for the lights to change, when they did I floored it and the car shot backwards and hit the car behind me!!! Don't know what's going on with it

I have the same issue, When I put mine into P, the car didnt not park itself???

From what I can see there is no reason to have drive select involved with a cold engine. On my RS3 there are half a dozen warnings/limiters that come into play with a cold engine.

The car restarts in a mix of comfort and dynamic (assuming it was left in dynamic), not auto. I believe the A4 goes into auto, not the A3. It is possible that the differences in the modes are easier to spot with an RS3, but I suspect all A3/S3/RS3 have the same drive select.

I have found the * button and the drive select button to be a pain. Push menu, turn the wheel to vehicle, select drive select and you have drive select on the screen 24/7. This means when you restart, all you have to do is push the wheel and the car will correctly be in the previous drive mode.
