Hi all

Temperature sensor seems to be shot in my drivers side heated seat. Seat heats up fully (base and back) but only sometimes, other times it stays stone cold. I've checked readings in VCDS and the current seat temp value is all over the place. Tried it a few days ago and the passenger seat said 2C (which was accurate) and the drivers was flicking about from 15-60C.

Requested temp and dial position change ok when the dial is turned and the element itself heats up which points the finger at the temp sensor. However, the temp sensor is part of the base element and that's a) a pain in the balls to replace and b) expensive. Has anyone ever repaired/replaced just the temp sensor part?

Ta

Did you change the entire element or is there a way of fixing/replacing just the temp sensor?

Replaced the seat element with a 8E0 963 555AH from LLL Parts. Cost about £120 delivered. Stuck it on top of the old one as pulling it off would've destroyed the foam. Works a treat now.

depends on how much they have been used really.
I only used the heating mode in my s-line seats twice , and thus far I have not even put them on in the recaro's a year after fitting.
But I suppose if they are used a lot then they maybe more likely to suffer problems.

I use them almost all the time. Mine has just had drivers seat done (07 plate), wife's tt was done a few months back (51 plate) and previous car had it done about 5 years ago (51 plate Discovery) so they're not unreliable as such, it's just wear and tear from it being bent around so much.

It's not too bad a job, just disassembling the seat is a bit of a pain and they're heavy to lift in and out. Putting the roof down helped with that.

I wouldn't buy a car without them now.

And it's not only the seat elements that go tits up , the climate control unit which controls the temp etc can become problematic.
Not suffered any issues with mine so far but then I just don't use the function to be honest but a lot of guys have had issues, but then its an audi and to be expected..lol

I was told by the boss no way was I to fit heated seats.
I wanted leather, but I knew her and the daughter would moan about seat temps in summer and winter. So a half leather compromise it was.

On a sideways skew, is there a way of wiring the seats without the climatronic unit, such as relay and switch from a golf or something?
