Front Dome Light Upgrade/Retrofit

I'm stuck. I re wired the pins have the harness for the rear LED light can't get the actual map lights to work. The illumination (red lights behind the buttons) is working but no the reading light. Haven't done the second power supply... is this why I can't get any lights to come on?
What did you do exactly? Do your front dome lights work correctly? I'm pretty sure for the front dome lights to work right, you need to run a cable to the fuse box so that it does have a second power supply source. I'm not sure about the rears.

So I test ran a wire from the fuse box to the lights and they work but they flicker. Also I have Homelink; I noticed that re working the pins to make the LED assembly work that the Homelink quit working... Im determined to make this work! any help would make a difference. kinda stumped at this point and I don't know how to read wiring diagrams to be honest with everyone.

I'm pretty sure you need to repin the plug coming off the homelink harness. The homelink harness should look like this. Repin the plug that goes off to the dome lights. It's the one on the left.

I figured the home link out. There was a separate plug that looped off the original harness labeled "use this side with high over head console" after re pinning the plug to make the led assembly work you just swap to that plug. Now I have the flicker so I'm trying to work that kink out. I see a lot of people saying they used fuse 8 but I have no clue what they mean by that. I have no empty fuse location on my fuse panel in side or out. So I'm wondering if I can use a "fuse tap or will that over load the circuit ?

Did anybody get this mod up and running or is it still a little bit hard to figure out?

Hi.
I followed all theese instructions with all the full package material included and everything went fine.
Thanks a lot for sharing all this precious info.
After this I pretend to retrofit the taillights. Can anyone tell me if this kind of retrofit could be dificult to do? Can anyone give me top info to do this job properly?
Thanks in advance.

If you retrofit the original LED interior lights you also have to code it in 09.

09
Sec access 31347
Adaptions

Search for PWM, then will find
Interior light -KL30G ohne PWM

Change the value and your led lights will not turn off after a couple of seconds.

Hi RJ-8V

You told me that I have to code it following your instructions, right?
Do I realy have to do this once this retrofit followed all the instructions in this post connecting the extra current directly to the fuse box and they are working perfectly?.
What I`m trying to say is once i did it by a diferent way and therefore a litle bit diferent from the original, will this code be realy needed?
If yes, what value do I have to put there? Can you be more specific? Changing the value the lights will turn off after how much more seconds compared as they turn off as I have now?

Use the coding if you retrofitted it as factory specced.

how did you repin this? iv done it to what he has said but nothing

Hi guys i wired my interior dome light exactly like below now the light goes out after a couple of seconds tried the coding by changing the value to 100 as stated in the post but light goes out after couple of seconds when Engine is started any help would be appreciated thanks

Originally my pin assignments into the T6 dome light connector were this:
Original stock
Pin 1 - Ground - Brown
Pin 2 - Door Trigger to ground - Green
Pin 3 - empty
Pin 4 - +12v constant power - purple w/ white stripe
Pin 5 - illumination - Gray w/ white stripe
Pin 6 - empty

I believe my final pin assignments on the front dome light connector ended up being this (it's the end of my notes, so without pulling stuff apart, I can't say I'm positive but it seems to line up with the wiring diagram):
Pin 1 - to +12v [run dedicated lead to fuse box constant power]
Pin 2 - door trigger (to ground) [green]
Pin 3 - ground [brown]
Pin 4 - [empty]
Pin 5 - +12v [purple w/white]
Pin 6 - illumination [gray w/ white stripe]

Hi guys any help regarding this retrofit is appreciated have a Audi 8v A3 2017 has had a roof dome upgrade to the individual map lights and rear dome light and is connected to the front dome via the loom supplied by Audi need help regarding the front dome going out after 2 seconds when engine is starting also back dome doesn’t light up even with the correct loom that connects it to the front dome help guys appreciated

Probably not connected properly. Also, did you change your codings back before you did my coding?

Hi how do you mean all I did was put it as active as you stated not sure about what coding your referring to when you mention did you change your coding back as I didn’t code anything apart from what you stated to do in adaptations set as active 2nd gen

I mean this

Then check wiring.

Hey the back light is connected to the front with one loom which I bought from Audi 6 pin connector going to the back dome and the 12 pin connector going into the front dome do you need to move connectors on the 6 pin going in to the back dome as other wiring is ok front dome works as it should mate

Did anyone get to the bottom of getting this to work correctly ??

If so what’s needed ?

I'm about to do this retro fit thought this might help someone else out as its taken me most of today to find this info, the pin you need for the 6th pin for power , found on eBay 6 for £6.00 with cable, just ordered today if wrong I will remove post

I retrofitted the dome led lights from the original halogen version thought there is something not right.
If i press the central “lights on” button, then every light in the dome front and rear goes on. However, when i push the right button (rear side), then the light wont go on while the left rear light does go on when i push o. the left button.
I tried to switch the led device but the problem persist so it has something to do with coding i guess?

Check your connections. It looks much more like an incorrect wiring than a coding issue.

Just want to confirm, if I do this swap with the correct harness from Audi that runs between the front and rear dome lights then all I have to do is change the coding? Re-pinning the harness was no necessary? I sourced all the parts separately and then I see k-electronics sells a retrofit kit as well.

I had to re-pin and run 12v as well, I did need to code it for the interior light to stay on. so what I mean it if you turned the interior light on it would turn off its self after a sort time, if you are not bother about this then you won't need to code it

That is right.
The lights might turn off after 2 seconds or something which can be corrected by coding. Otherwise you won't need coding at all for the lights to go on

When you pull the console down and unplug everything, you have this for the main harness. My car has homelink. So that adapter is the junction to power the homelink unit. The little white connector taped up is for the light package option and wired accordingly. So as another member previously mentioned, you need to unplug the existing homelink connector (the unit pops out from the back) and plug in the one that was taped up. Swap pins and you’re good. My car also has the auto dimming mirror so my pin 4 is not empty. That is is where the blue and red striped wire goes.

After completing the swap everything is working with the exception of the door trigger which is strange since it’s the only pin you don’t need to move. All background lighting works. All the lights front and rear come on when I press the “all on” button. Each individual light works as it should. Just nothing when I open the doors.

But the indicator (red) light of that particular button is on?

Well i figured it out. I had accidentally cut the door trigger wire while I was cutting off the Tesa tape. What an amateur lol.

In trying to install my led internal light on my 2016 Audi Q3 but different to the connector I've read before mine has already 5 wires connected to it and so I'm confused in what to do

Which connector are you referring to? Could you post a pic?

I've got a 2015 A3 2.0 Quattro with the [U.S.] Premium Plus. In previous Audis they've had the front map lights, which this car does not. Apparently that's part of the Prestige package. I've since ordered and just received the front light assembly from the Prestige package, along with the unique factory harness. What I'm having trouble finding though is where it plugs in to the car. Based on cable length after running through the headliner and down the A-pillar, it should land somewhere around the BCM (body control module) or kick panel but I'm not finding a female plug that would accommodate it.

Anyone else done this retrofit who can lend some insight?

Hi
Just wanted to know if you need how to wire the hole clips to the new clips that you are displaying, I currently have theses one but wanted to upgrade the whole cluster to a led and keep it original
