Hi All, thought I would use this time to finally install my maxton splitter and sideskirts to my S3 sportback.
The sideskirts seem simpler to install but would like peoples opinion on the best way to install the front splitter.

I did install one on my previous car and it was a ballache, hence I am asking for guidance.
Have people have used tape and screws rather than the bolts provided?

Also I previously installed it on my other car in situ leaving the bumper on which made me think taking the bumper off might be a better idea.

Any advice would be appreciated before I start the task!

I used some self tappers (drilled a pilot hole first). The nuts and bolts looked like a pain to fit. I think I used roofing screws as they had a rubber washer on them.

You can do it with the bumper on, I put the car on axle stands to make it easier to work on. Tape it on temporarily first then you can see how it looks before screwing it on

I used the kit that was provided and dremeled the inner bumper to suit. Was a little time consuming but wanted it right.

So you just used self tapping screws? Is it secure? I do alot of motorway driving so dont want it flying off!

I did see photos of that from someone, I assume you took the bumper off to do this.

Clean the surfaces, use a little 3M or other brand double sided tape at the front and the ends. Peel the tape and offer up the Splitter. If in the correct position then make holes and use screws. If "off" then remove splitter and re-position until correct. This is how I did my kid and had no issues.

Thats what I wanted to hear! sounds alot simpler doing it this way. Glad a few of you seem to have done it with no issues.

After having a splitter getting lose at 230km/h I will never trust 3M tape and self tapping screws anymore. Now I've bolted the splitter on AND fitted self tapping screws (to align it before fitting the bolts) - and that is 250km/h approved :racer:
