Next model A3

Down to our last 2 rolls here. Supermarkets are sold out! Oh what I’d do for some Andrex!!!

Try Aldi or Lidl. They seem to suffer less from panic buying.

Can be just as bad. I'm quite lucky, as we have a small Co-op, new Aldi (not superstore) and a new M&S Food hall all grouped together, and less than 5 min walk away from us. Call in for the bits and bobs we need first thing on a morning on our pre-work walk.

That was a good read, thanks.

Will be interesting to read a review of the new A3, against the latest 1 series when it comes out.

The Merc looks impressive on the inside but it just looks so dull to me on the outside.

I had the new A35 for a few months, and the build quality was shocking. Probably the worst I have ever owned, I had had a Vauxhall at one point.

"Just like a Golf" now though lol

I’ve been pretty impressed with the build quality in the Golf, some of the plastics lower down in the cabin are not as good as the S3 but at almost 9k cheaper I wouldn’t expect them to be.

The seats in the TCR are also more comfortable, I also prefer the build in media unit versus the screen which pops out of the dash.

Value wise, it’s a nice package. By far the cheapest car I have had in quite a few years, but by no means the worst.

Being totally honest I wish I had held out for the right spec M2 competition, but I can always get one in about 18 months or so, unless anything better has tempted me by then.

I sat in a mk7.5 Golf about a year ago when looking to change the A3. I didn't think the quality was down on the A3.

That's where the A35 or A45 sorts that :icon thumright:

Having had mine for around a month now I can honestly say build quality is rock solid. Feels very well put together and not a single squeak or rattle, which is not somthing I can say about all the Audi's I've had in the past. I was dubious of the quality based on a lot of owners moans on the a class site, but thankfully it looks like I have a good one or maybe the cars assembled at AMG are given extra care & attention lol :)

Do "AMG" cars get built at a separate facility then?

You are in the full blown pimp model though ;-)

Guess all new models gave their issues to iron out, I can see the new A3 dash being a squeaky with all those plastic vents when temperatures change.

I didn’t have any issues with my S3 but the 2012 A4 i had squeaked likes nobodies business, especially the centre console.

In which case the new A3 has gotta be off the charts ... you'll be in Audi 'lambo air vent' heaven mate pmsl :icon thumright: :tearsofjoy:

Did l mention the new A3.....no l didn't lol just the current one same as my own of which l admire greatly and when a 7 year old car/design can out do a relatively new design/car ....well can't say more that mate
Take the badge out of the equation for a moment

A German hatchback has no appeal to me.l dont like paint colour restrictions,l dont like microfiber seat coverings, matte finished alloy wheels, piano black plastic in a interior ....all these would put off a car instantly

First sight of some pricing from Brighton Audi’s Facebook page.

Not bad for the first deal I’ve seen on a 35 TFSI SLine?

£349 + £349p/m
1+35

That is decent if it's the new model?

What's a 35tfsi in non weird Audi terms? A 1.5 petrol?

From my experience and feedback on a lot of A35 forums you are in the minority, not the majority.

And I totally agree nothing is perfect and there can be issues with any car, however it’s how the dealership and the manufacturer deal with you and ultimately how they resolve the problems.

I had a few problems with my S3 and my TCR, both dealerships were extremely accommodating and couldn’t do enough to ensure the problems were resolved and on both occasions I was sufficiently compensated.

MB on the other hand, didn’t want to listen and instead preferred to tell me I was imagining the problems or it was a characteristic of the car and best of all I should lower my expectations of the car.

I wouldn’t set foot in MB dealership again if they were giving cars away.

just like Audi denying there was a problem with squealing brake discs ... that was never sorted on the RS3’s !

It sounds like you had a very bad experience with Merc & that can happen to anyone with any brand ... if I were you I would probably feel the same ... but thus far the Merc Dealership has been exemplary.

It’s a shame too as I recall you raving about your 35 when you got it but like you say get a bad apple car and dealer & it tarnishes the whole experience.

You’re right, I absolutely loved my A35 it looked liked nothing else on the road and it was really fun to drive.

unfortunately I got an extremely poor one, the front bumper needed painted due to flaw in the paint, it had several electrical problems and worst of all it creaked like an old bed frame every time you drove it.

But, it was my experience with the MB dealership and how they dealt with the situation that put me off the brand for life. If they had of accepted the issues where there and fixed them or replaced the car I would have been more than happy.

I'm going to get really weird here, but how do you find the smell of your A45?

Every new car has a certain smell. A new car smell. And I've noticed the smell varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. When I test drove the A35 the cabin had a certain smell. Quite a sweet sickly smell. I noticed it straight away, and after a few hours I was pleased to get out of the car.

It was a demo car, so the dealer might use a certain product to clean it with. But if that smell comes from the factory, then that alone would put me off buying a car.

I do seem to have a heightened sense of smell to others I know, so might just be me.

I did say I'm going to get weird. :whistle2:

Must have been whatever the dealership was using, I have been in 3 A35's and none of them had a weird smell.

That is very frustrating pal - but hopefully your VW will be rock solid and the TCR will be a fab car :icon thumright:

It is a lovely TCR that @Chris4410 has. It is definitely the pick of the mk7/7.5 Golf’s for me outside of the track focused Clubsport S.

Cheers, I would love to see some photos of your A45s. My friend who details my car had one in last month, it was white and had some red decals on it. It looked very aggressive, just like that class of car should do.

Cheers Spike, I think the pure grey paint makes it stand out against a "standard" GTI, even though the colour is a nightmare to keep looking good. I added some TPI spacers last month, I was surprised how much of a difference it made to the stance.
