Hi guys and gals,

Some time ago, I found in the internet, a quick video of "diy - how to activate oil level feature in MMI" and decided to do it.
Had green menu already activated so it was easy to follow the procedure steps.

After it was done, actual oil level option has appeared in the MMI but it was greyed.
Am I correct assuming, my car doesnt't have the actual oil sensor fitted?
If it doesn't, can I get one, where from, where to install it and does it require any further calibration, activation or coding?

You may think, does he really need it?
Well ..., I might not but it bothers me to have the option active but not active, in a way.

Others might say, it is not accurate, like the battery meter.
Ok but lets see how accurate it actually is.

Can anyone shed some light on that grey area.

If no joy or too much faffing about, I'll just deactivate it.

I tried long time ago as well, but it looks like that our car does not support this feature. I gave up immediately.

I will probably give up also on that as it may be beyond me or impossible but before I do that (which I hardly do give up), would like to try solve it.

Will google around, as have morw time now and see what it will come back with.

Right ...
So far, have found out from the internet that, oil level sensors do also do give oil temperature readings. (Uploaded picture of diagram for reference only and is not from A6 model, although showed from search results).
As both options on my car were not active from factory but have them on now, need to see physically if the sensor is there at the bottom of the sump.

Boost gauge, lap timer with oil temperature IS working so what is going on now?

Didn't have stands and not going to risk my life being squashed if raised the car only on a jack, just to take the engine cover off.
If will not figure something out, to safely raise the car from front at least, it will have to wait untill next service in about July/August or MOT at the end of May.

Will post up findings

It has sensor. And you can see by diagnostic the oil level expressed in mm.
I have enabled oil temperature as well and I have enabled Eco display on instrument board computer by diagnostic in Address 17 - instrument; Adaptation Channel 77, add 255 to Old Value 61440 (that was my reading in channel 77) and changed to 61695.

Was just doing some door sils and shuts cleaning now with my mate admiring new steering wheel and mentioned to him about the oil level sensor.
He enlightened me that, oil level can be displayed on any in car media display if engine is off. DUH!
My face palm was heard from another town.

Ok, so. With engine running, option is greyed out.
Switched it off and it turned red. That means, it is accessible.
Entered it and message about turned ignition showed up.
Then, message about warm engine and 2 minute delay popped so brought engine to 90, as was parked and switched it off, with ignition back on. Waited 2 minutes aaaaaannnnnddddd ... still freaking nothing
Last picture show temp by 90, as it was asking for warm engine and time actually waited was 4 minutes.

What, shall I drive it to bring it up to proper temp and than try it again?
Think I will do that tomorrow and report back.

Today's 20mile constant drive, warmed up the engine nicely but it still not showed oil level.
Arrived back, engine off, gone in the oil level option, switched ignition on and still same message that "it will be displayed in about 2 minutes" after waiting more than 5.

Anyone experienced such thing or did you had no problem getting the oil level readings?
