A3 8V Removing J519 T46b in Attempt to install Footwell and Cupholder Lights

I'm pretty sure that's how the OEM footwell lights work.
If you have a VCDS/OBDEleven you can change the behavior for when they come on.
I just did the settings on my A3 last weekend and I remember in one of the settings I had to fiddle had different behavior for such settings.

If I'm not mistaken it's this one:
  • 09 Cent Elect
    • Adaptations
      • Leuchte30FR LC72
        • Lichtfunktion A 30 = Footwell Light
Once you get to Lichtfunktion A 30 a list with a whole lot of options will show up to you.
My OBDEleven shows everything in German, so I had to use Google translator to find out that Fussraumbeleuchtung means Footwell Light.
One of the first options was something like dome light or central light.

Thanks guys for all guides and informationa. Today I retrofited this at my A3 8V. I had footwell lights before, but connected to other +12v source, w/o control trough MMI. Now is much better, but I think once I set some brightnes I will not change it like never :tearsofjoy:, but it is nice touch.
I perfer red lights bcs of all other Audu ligthning is red. Here is the video:

How did you get red footwell lights? Aftermarket?

Hello,

Before this retrofit I had footwell lights instaled on other way, without control trough MMI, using this https://bit.ly/2wGlfS4 , so I kept using it just connected to red light wire.

Im using it almost a year, so after this retrofit and coding, I decidet to keep using it. :)

Hi.does anybody know the repair wire part number for the t73c plug pin number 3 please . I have 2 sizes but as per they're the wrong ones . Thanks . Ps it's the one in the photo with the black dots on it

Not sure, but it looks like a slot for a 1.5mm MCP contact pin. Did you check the part number 000979025E? (it's for 0.5, low power wiring as is the case for the cupholder light, but you might alternatively use 000979150E if you can't find it)

Cheers I'll have a look at these .there seems to be 3 different sizes and the one I need appears to be the middle one . There some smaller ones in there which are the majority and are the same as the door card harness .I think the one I need is the next size up .

Thanks record . What size is the one in the last link .I think that's the small one and I suspect I need the next size up .

Next size up is the 2.8mm MCP terminal.

Thanks I've found this looks correct doesn't it ?

These are male pins. Look for the corresponding female terminals. I'm away from my docs right now but I can check It for you later, if you can't find it first.

4f0972575b part number shown in the picture you sent corresponds to a 17 pin connector of the kind used in the coupling station at the left bottom A pilar, not the BCM 73 pin connector, that's why it doesn's contain the complete list of terminals. The MCP 2.8mm I mentioned has the part numbers 000979026E (0.5 mm wire) and 000979151E (1.0 mm wire) for repair cables. I think you should check it carefully anyway because, according to the diagrams I've seen for the BCM connector, slots 3 and 4 look like MCP 1.5, while slots 2, 5 and 12 look like be MCP 2.8. Hope this helps.

Cheers pal . I'll order a couple and see which fit . I'll keep you posted when I've sorted

Does anybody know what is this for: Background lightning > Door? My plan is to retrofit amibent lights and I want to take that power source to have control via MMI.

Oky, thank you. Do you know where is that power source, bcs I dont have B&O speakers? I want to use that power source for this.

It is in the door module if you have the correct t one. Dont know the pin number but somebody on here will

After I got the puddle lights working I tried to get the footwell lights working as welland even though I'm sure I've done it correctly my MMI seems to have lost the background lighting option completely?
Anyone have any idea what I've messed up?
It must be coding, I had same problem. After I check coding again, I missed some thickboxes :D

I was unlocking via OBDEleven the Ambient lights Menu on the MMI to activate the foot well lights. I did all the activation reset the MMI and menu appear as it says on this thread.

However now my dimmer switch on the dash does not work anymore and my car is not getting any power to light the rear doors window switch. They windows go up and down but they don't have lights anymore...I also loose the lights, I install on the rear bucket doors that are wire to the window switch. Also the MMI Interior lights menu doesn't dimm any of the lights.

I undo all I did again via OBDEleven reset the MMI. Still not working..
I remove the rear door panels check all the connections, they are good plugged properly to the Module. I also check the fuse. Still not red lights on rear window switch.
I have no idea how to fix this. Because everything should work fine since I reverted back the coding I did. And I double checked the history logs of what I did. I never touch the rear doors during the coding. Because they were already activated.

Scan the car..Trouble codes:

U020200 - Lost Communication With “Door Control Module D”

Hi

The problem appears to be the installation you made in the rear doors, because all the control of the rear doors are in the module installed in each door. Did you plug everything properly? Everything is right connected to the rear modules?

Hi guys

I installed the lights and the wiring but when tried to apply the changes trough OBDELEVEN but I was able to activate it in the MMI but I got this message in it and the lights not working.

I apply all the changes to the central module too but nothing happens

Please help!!

My guess is that you didn’t do the coding to the rear door modules.
If memory doesn’t fail me, you have to code each rear door + the central module.
My advice is: read this thread again very throughly, take note of all programming details, organize them in a way that makes sense to you, then study it until you know everything that needs to be done and you feel confident about it.
Then redo all the coding, double check each and every setting mentioned.

It’s being over 2 years I did this retrofit to my car, and it has been working perfectly, in every way: lights + MMI menu.

Hi has anyone installed footwell lights on an Audi q5 2018 FY and does he know which pin to plug in J519 because 72 is busy

Thanks, you were right. I also needed to enable footwell and door separately in the mmi to get the independent settings via the car menu above, via:

Interior light; light configuration-Fussraumbeleuchtung = installed
Interior light; light configuration-Cockpitbeleuchtung = installed

There is also Interior light: light configuration-Ambiente_Lautsprecher but that is not installed in my case - think that's the B&O speakers lighting. These are all the options but I doubt many of the others are relevant to many.

If it helps regarding the loom, I took one from eBay and swapped out the front lights for standard ones from Audi, parts 4G0919390B (light) and 8K0973754 (connector). In my case the terminal on the loom for the BCM was included, but I've heard of cases where they are the wrong size or not included. The correct size terminal is on the end of Audi repair wire 000979025. An example is:

Hi
So finally did you manage to do it correctly and have it controlled through mmi independently?

Hi guys, I have installed footwell and door ambient lights....they show up on my MMI after coding but the MMI doesn't control them.... any help is appreciated
