Aggressive Wheel Fitment Thread

Nope your height/diameter has also changed even though the 35 profile is the same....this site will explain all https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/

You state he has done many strange/abnormal fittings at customer requests, presume not his recommendation......235 is the ideal width for an 8" wheel...255 is extreme.

Well u showing me official things I seen many times. But when it comes to stretching tyre even crazier nobody says nothing just agreeing, but when I want to do opposite and only 2cm extra wide it is like extreeme overkiill and bad.. call it "aggressive"

Hello, I have a 2017 s3, I am looking to run vossen vfs-1 wheels, would I be able to run 19x9.5 +40 if so what tire spec and could i lower the car?
Also if not 19x9.5, vossen also offers 19x8.5 +30-45 offset, thanks.

9,5*19 et40 should be OK. With 235/35 tires.
This A3 sedan has 10*18 et40 and they fit like a dream. Or being on the safe side choose the 8,5 et35.

Looking to run a 255 35 19 on a 19 x 9j et40 on s3 saloon lowered around 20mm will these fit with out rubbing issues ??

Thanks but not quite there lol anyone running 255 tyres on the saloon?

Thanks ordered the wheels now! But I’ve also been offered a set of track wheels and tyres cheap they are 18 x 9.5j et 40 with 265/40/18 tyres would these be okay for a track day? Not worried if the tyres poke abit just thinking for extra traction?

Hello I am trying to figure out how aggressive I can go with rim offset on my A3 sline. I lowered it 1.5 front and back , so I need to know what the lowest offset I can run. I have 19x8 49 offset with 235/35/19. I want to stay with the 235s and go 19x8.5 but what would be the lowest offset I could go without crushing fenders. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi I have purchased new wheels they are 18” 9j et41, will they fit on my saloon, if not what sort of spacers will I need? Car is lowered 40m all round. Thanks

Pretty sure they will fit nicely, but to be on the safeside you could check this link below.

And also the picture I posted earlier, shows A3 sedan with 10*18 ET40 wheels. That gives you much reference how yours will fit.

Hi Guys,

Have some Rse10 Neuspeeds, 19” / 9.0j / ET40,

Was looking at the Michelin Pilot Sport 4

Anyone know if 245 / 35 / R19 will rub?

was thinking back and front?
Audi says max u can do on rears is 235 but but, 245 might be still ok here is foto how much is it close to fender i have 235 and it is quite close but 245 would be 0.5cm closer so just about to rub.. But I believe it will not..
Fronts you can do 255 as per audi that is max
Am planning this setup in future..

Hey Peter is that with the same set up? Ie 19s 9.0j with 40 offset?

Does look tight, but there seems to be clearance ... just.

Just don’t want the tyre so stretched and would like some rim protection (for when the wife drives!!)

I have 8Jx19 ET49 so with Et40 you will be perfectly fine but tyres will stick out with ET45 it would be ideal ..
No no , you won't have tyres stretched at all .. if you use 245 and 255

  • Rim width Minimum tyre width Ideal tyre width Maximum tyre width

    7,0 Inches - 195 mm 205 or 215 mm 225 mm
    7,5 Inches - 205 mm 215 or 225 mm 235 mm
    8,0 Inches - 215 mm 225 or 235 mm 245 mm
    8,5 Inches - 225 mm 235 or 245 mm 255 mm
    9,0 Inches - 235 mm 245 or 255 mm 265 mm
    9,5 Inches - 245 mm 255 or 265 mm 275 mm

Thanks Peter, going to get the tyre shop to run 245s first, to see if there’s rub as that’s my preferred option. Any issues and 235 goes on.

Have yet to find anyone with this set up on an S3 Sportback, stock suspension & springs:

245 / 35 / 19 - Michelin Sport 4s
19”x 9.0 ET 40 - Neuspeed RSE10

Was very worried about the widths with the ET, especially on 245s, but I can confirm it fits!

No rub. Tyre wall is pretty flush with the bodywork.

But where rear? With ET40 you didn't have to be worried.. I have ET49

Standard wheel ETs on a S3 8V Sportback range mainly between ET45-ET52

The Saloon and the RS3 can take ETs in the low 30s because of the faired arches and the wider track. But the lower ET meant there was a risk the wheels would poke out too much... and then the 9.0j width brings it close to the strut. But it’s just a tight finger gap.

But on the S3

Hi, I’m wondering if 19x8.5 ET40 will fit my A3 saloon with 235/35 tyres

Oh that's better... That previous foto was optical illusion then :D

Yeah, that was a weird photo. Even made the S3 look like a Mini Clubman!

That said, I think ET40 is the lowest ET you’d want to run on a Sportback, otherwise you will start to poke (depending on your width of alloy of course)

Absolutely. No problem with that. You could take 245s even.

Wider track and wider arches to accommodate this on the Saloon.

As Peter said, 20s will bolt straight on.

Ah nice thank you, am I better off to go with 245s then, wouldn’t they provide a bit more comfort

I went with 245s as my wheels are 9.0j and I did not want a stretched look. 235s on a 9.0j barely fit. And 245 gives the tyres square shoulders, which I prefer. Also means I do not lose height in the sidewall, which also happens when the tyre is stretched.

Your wheel being 8.5j could take a 235 or a 245.

245 would give you more rim protection

Yeah I really don’t want stretched tyres, looking mainly to try and keep almost all of the comfort I currently have, it’s one of my favourite things about the car

If you have wider tyres you won't stretch anything ..
Just get 255 35 R19 Front and 245 35 R19 back .. That's what I want to do but I have 8j
