how do guys, so.. I recently changed the steering rack on my a3 8p along with a bunch of other front end tackle while i had the subframe off,

now i have assembled it all back together im getting the dreaded subframe crack. and its really loud and embarrasing, it cracks probably 3 times during braking and every moderate to hard corner and during acceleration

my r32 mk5 used to do this also even though to my knowledge the subframe had never been removed

i've checked all bolts and they're tight enough but i know that's not the issue.

can anybody recommend some collar kits that aren't ludicrous.. also collar kit experiences. Do they work 100% and absolutely resolve the problem, the big boy kits are ranging around £200 from what i've seen, there's a couple of kits on ebay for £100 or so mark but its still absolutely insane for a few aluminium washers or what ever they're made from.

I already have the wider bolts from factory and not the skinny black ones anyway but i still have the issue.

i really can't justify spending this amount of money on some washers,

another solution i theorised was to weld some raised beads on the chassis of the car butting up against the subframe on each corner so once its tightened to the chassis so the subframe literally has nowhere to move to. thoughts? (would this mess up my window of alignment if i need it adjusting?)

i know this has been covered millions of times but eh.
