Hey people. Ive been looking at the obdeleven device and pro package (£65 all in) for some time but theres a deal on the carista (£21) on amazon with 1 months free all in applications for a third of the price of the obdeleven at the moment and although I wont be using the full activation features of either after I have finished tweaking mine and the wife's Audi's im in the frame of mind that the carista is the better and cheaper option for what I want to do with it as I can still read errors after the offer with either device. Is it really worth me buying the pro pack obdeleven if the carista offer implies that it does everything the obdeleven does?????? Any preferences or experiences helpful please people.

I had Carista for quite a while. It is good at reading and resetting codes and some VERY basic setting changes. I bought an OBDeleven in December. Carista doesn't come close to doing what OBDeleven can do.

It all depends on what you want/need to do.

I want to activate any features on mine and the wifes cars that arent activated already with it. Whatever there is to activate. I was under the impression that the barista took with the offer of full function might be on par with the obdeleven? Did you have full versions of both?

Yes, Carista is an annual subscription of like $30-40. I used it on a 2013 Q5, as 2012 GTI and a 2015 A3. Worked well. They kept adding things, but it was limited, unless they have dramatically updated it since my subscription ran out last month.

After I bought my S7, I bought the OBDeleven. It was during their Christmas/New Year sale, so got double the credits for the Pro version. It does pretty much everything, including having the ability to do long coding like VCDS.

Again, it comes down what you want the tool for and what you need it to do. For instance, on my S7 I wanted to enable Economy Drive Mode and enable the Lap Timer. Couldn't do those with Carista.

Hi Pete,

I've got Carista and its much more simple to use compared to Obdeleven. With OBD eleven you need to purchase credits. With Carista you pay like £30 for a year and you can activate everything that is supported on your vehicle. Its pretty cool tbh. You can also reset engine management light.

Yes I was looking at the carista on offer and it has 1 month all access free offer so wouldn't need to pay for the subscription as would get everything done in the time frame of the offer and wanted to get peoples perspective of the two devices.

Quick question Guys.
My service is due in 50 days time according to my MMI.
I have a Carista, but haven't yet used it as I want the Month free trail to do all of my changes and turn off the service light.
Question is, can I reset the service countdown now and not wait 50 days ? I'm not talking about the oil change interval.
I'm guessing it works like Spotify, put in your bank details, get the free stuff then your money kicks in later. But you cancel the payment before the date ?
Thanks.

The answer to your question is: yes Carista can be used to reset your service counter.

I know the answer is yes, my question was, can I reset the service message BEFORE it comes on.
Not the Oil Change message which can be reset at any time using the MMI.
I'm not being rude, just confused at your answer

I have OBDeleven and find it very useful. Bought the basic kit first, and recently updated to the pro to attempt some adaptions to do with the loss of power steering (barely use the pro for anything else, but can do some long coding if I dare). Use it regularly to check fault codes on two cars. Have used it to enable various apps (pre coded mods?) on both our (and friends) cars. Basic is £35? Yes you need credits but you get one a day for just opening the app, then you can get maybe 7/8 more by watching some 10 second ads if you want to boost your balance.

From my experience, it can be reset at any time.

I've used my OBDEleven Pro to enable needle sweep, knock off the seatbelt chime and enable chirp on locking.

All sorted and now cancelled.
I'll obviously pay the company next time I need to cancel the service light.
What a handy tool, I've made lots of personal changes as well.
Very impressed,.

Hi, sorry for the delay in responding. As above I purchased it from their website. I bought the basic version for €45 incl postage and then upgraded to Pro by buying the license.

Bought the pro obd eleven and found it great for coding / output tests / service requirements/ diagnostic ability and is not limited license to a certain number of vehicles / vins like vcds well worth the money for its power and portability,
also its great it can do a back up of your full car sent to your email address etc. should you need to revert back to any original coding or find thier part numbers or software numbers etc or even look through your change history to back track if you have changed coding and brought up errors e.g you have enabled a function not actually on your car and the module is looking for hardware not present and bringing up no communication signals for that ghost component
