Hi Guys

Probably a silly question but I have a Audi A3 1.6 TDI Sportback 8V 2014 and I have ordered 40mm lowering springs.

To get an idea I was just wondering if this model comes under sport (so sits 15mm lower than standard) so 40mm would equate to 25mm lower with 40mm springs or is it stock my current suspension so meaning as it is in the pics the whole 40mm drop will be accounted for.

Photos below I did buy it with the standard 16s and added the 18 inch S Lines.

Thanks guys

You need to register on the MyAudi website and check under your cars options to see what suspension it has. It doesn’t matter if it was Sport or S-line as the lowered suspension was able to be deleted and reverted back to SE. To me, it does look like SE and stock, it sits quite high. My A3 was Sport with the normal Sport suspension set up with 17inch wheels and it sat lower than yours.

I will have a look at the site I'm pretty positive the 16 inch alloy A3 are Stock SE. So hopefully 40mm drop will sit quite nice on this once done might have an inch from top tyre and arch gap instead of 3-4 currently at back lol

I think yours is SE standard.
Ride height looks very high and the same as my A3 E-Tron was, before I fitted Eibach Pro springs -> ~30mm drop (all E-Trons have this ugly high ride height o.e.m.).

Wow that looks so much better on the etron mate thanks for the pics. Do you think with 40mm as mines 10mm more there will be issues with the front arch and tyre as yours looks pretty low and close with 30mm. I don't want road humps being a constant worry with arch scraping tyre.;)

i run ebach pro springs with 18's and front splitter

front splitter can be trouble some in car parks so I would say a 40mm would be Ok but watch out for certain circumstances

Speed humps are my fear as i can see the front bumper cutting into the hump before I've even climbed it at 40mm drop maybe?

With the Dutch roads, with lots of speedbumps, I noticed the drop on my E-Tron (3 ~ 3.5cm) is the 'maximum', to keep driving normal/like I did before.
I already scraped something (plastic cover uwnderneath) several times and I notice that I need to drive 10km/u slower on certain speeds bumps, compared to before.
Orthewise I scrape something...

What - 40mm springs have you bought?

Hi Tutti,

I had a budget but read on some forums on here a few people have had these springs for years and recommend them for ride etc.

I went for Lo Suspension springs these only £92 for a full set 40mm

How will LO springs improve my ride?

No matter what you drive, your vehicles development engineers were faced with considerations that ultimately affected its performance – bumper heights, wheel arch clearance and the number of people the vehicle was designed to carry.

To accommodate all of those variables, your car's suspension had to be tuned for average conditions, acceleration, braking and cornering. But you are not average!

You need to tune your vehicle to better match your driving style. If you want the performance look and feel as you cruise the streets and go through the corners, then LO springs will provide the more aggressive appearance and sure-footed handling that will help even the worlds finest cars perform even better.

What is TUV approved?

TUV is the standards rating that all applies to all vehicle manufacturers. In Germany these standards also apply to all aftermarket car parts, such as lowering springs.

While TUV approval is not compulsory in the UK, it does indicate a level of quality which is not usually met by other suspension products.

For your peace of mind, all LO springs have passed the stringent TUV safety test.

How can LO guarantee their springs will fit?

All kits are specifically designed to fit your car as a direct replacement for original parts without alteration.

LO springs can be fitted by any normal garage or experienced mechanic in the same way as original parts. Just swap the springs over and enjoy your ride!
