Hi all

Hope you are all keeping well

I have been told, as part of my MOT test, that my nearside rear shock is starting to fail and will need replacing before much longer. From online research, it seems that the Sachs OE part that I need is either twice the price of every other shock on the market, or out of stock.

Does anyone have experience of any alternative brand OE quality replacements ? As I'm intending to replace both rears, a change of brand shouldn't be a problem . . . I hope.

OE part number is 5Q0 513 029 EC

TIA.

For the high quality stuff I would stick to the likes of Sachs, Bilstein, Meyle who are the OE manufacturers for a number of brands.

Have you checked what the Sachs ones will cost you from the likes of ECP? I fitted these to my car last year, and are exactly the sane as the original part.

From ECP the Sachs ones are best part of £100 inc VAT each. Tried Autodoc, where they had the correct ones on sale at £70 each, but they told me that they are no longer available, and tried to fob me off with a cheap, incorrect, alternative.

PM me your reg number and I’ll see what I can sort out for you

Has anyone recently replaced the rear shocks on their A3 as I am in a similar situation that the Sachs original part is no longer really available. The Audi part number is 5Q0 513 029 EC and the Sachs part is 315 913, but the Sachs website says the part is discontinued.

Audi quoted me £200 parts only for rear shocks, but it makes me wonder what they are replacing them with if 315 913 is no longer available.

Ideally i want to replace front and rear shocks with factory spec parts, but Audi quoted me £450 parts only for front and rear!

Ive just had my rear shocks replaced under warranty...the genuine Audi shock was only £80ish

The Sachs replacement part is 318 202, which is what I ended up having fitted. Cost was around £100 for the pair and another £70- ish to have them fitted by my local Indy garage.

I checked with Sachs, and they confirmed that 318 202 is the new part for 315 913.
