Hello all,

(Currently in Coronavirus lockdown in France)

I am about to try my first VCDS procedure after reading all I can find online.

My 2003 Audi A4 Cabriolet has a faulty central electronic control module.

I have sourced a second hand replacement from Germany with, of course, same part number as the installed faulty module.

Would someone who knows, please let me know if my plan for the VCDS fix is sound or absolute rubbish?

1. Produce Auto scan of the car & save

2. Note the coding of currently installed Central Electronic module

3. Replace faulty module with second hand replacement

4. Select the module on VCDS

5. Use long coding to recode the 'new' module to have the same coding as the original module.

The above procedure makes sense to me but I am probably missing some critical aspect!

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Thanks

Well, as no one seemed to know, I winged it and the procedure worked a treat!
Only variation was that Long Coding is not an option on my car but just using Coding Option worked fine.
I overtyped the value in the “new” module with the value from the old and everything works.
