There was an incident in a local store when an lady pensioner had a loaf of bread and an approx 50 yo man took it off her , but the next person in queue gave her his, I don't think the store did anything but don't know for certain.
I would have requested he be done for assault but I wasn't there .
There is no need to do anything like that to get a loaf Shocking .

If i had been there and saw that happen i would have taken the snot bag to one side and had serious words with him, and if he got stroppy with me he would just be on the floor .
What sort of person treats others in that way, only an A -hole , sorry to be so blunt but that sort of thing really make my blood boil.

The supermarket staff is taking a lot of unnecessary abuse at the moment. They can only police these idiots so much.
Speaking to one recently while doing my shopping and was told this girl tried to buy 6 bottles of calpol and was told limit was 2, limits were there before this virus. Instead of just saying I will put 4 back she told the check out girl that I’m holding you effing responsible if anything happens to my kids and I hope you and your family catch this corona virus and effing die.
That is totally uncalled for in any situation. Calpol isn’t a miracle cure anyway. If I was behind her I would have turfed her out by her ears.
I think we should put the supermarkets staff up there with the nhs staff. They risking their lives as well with no protection. Nhs staff at least know they are dealing with ill people. Supermarkets staff don’t. It’s sad that it’s came to this.

It is not *just flu*. We need to take it seriously. Those comparing it with a normal flu is completely wrong and definitely don't keep up with the news.

The death rate for a normal flu is for the whole of a country whereas it is way higher for when you compare it with the existing cases identified. So far, 9k people have died out 212k who have been infected.

We need to start taking it seriously, if you don't want to do it for yourself, at least do it for the vulnerable around you!

One of my mates is a Consultant in Acute Medicine in one of the hospitals in B'ham. He deals with patients with Diabetes and Endocrinology and he has been tested COVID positive. I just spoke to his wife and I am sure he'll pull through but what I've been told about his condition is not good. He has a young family and he is 41. Another one is an A&E Consultant and he has been tested positive as well.

For those of you who think young won't get it need to wake up! Italy has been screwed exactly because of this stupid attitude a lot are showing in this country. We need to get our **** together and work as a community rather than pri*ks!

Sadly this is a very common occurance , and not just in the current public heath crisis, it happens whenever we as humans are put in a situation of self preservation.
Fear turns to panic and then violence takes over as we try to take control and save ourselves from whatever is threatening us.
We all do it to a more or lesser degree, we are programmed that way, survival of the fittest.
Just seems there are more humans taking a more aggressive approach these days , not good frankly and i'm not having any of it , but it will never change unless humans change , and that is most certainly never going to happen.
Just need to stay calm and look out for others that maybe getting trodden down by the pack.

I'm not stating its just a "flu" per say, I'm just stating its blown out of proportion. My mother is at serious risk and god forbid anything happened but the facts are as below. People going all out as if it was the blitz are taking the pish and hoarding, there will be plenty to go round if they just thought of others. My wife is a NHS worker and can take advantage of the 1hr in a morning that the big supermarkets are offering but she is ensuring the elderly/vulnerable are getting what they need.
WHO estimated that seasonal influenza was associated with a total of 250 000 to 500 000 deaths a year globally, this epidemic has a total of 12983 deaths. Yes its still terrible but to think people will act like morons in a time like this is unacceptable.

I have asthma, 43 and like my beer.
I am at high risk apparently.
High risk of going around the bend locked up in a house 24/7 with a hyper 10 year old and a wife that is on egg shells over it.
Tomorrow I shall be going out on my mountain bike.
Alone.
Nice fresh air and exercise.
And peace and quiet.
Otherwise I will go mad

Agreed chap.

It is a life changing situation which will effect every single one of us, no one is immune and this virus takes no prisoners.
Like I said before , it is not nice to hear about others loved ones passing away due to it, let alone if they are family but at the end of the day whatever way you paint it or try and shift the blame ,it is all our own doing in the bigger theme of things.
The actions of others have led to the global crisis we are dealing with now .
We'll just have to deal with it the best way we can , nobody know's what the best way is thus far but i'm sure it will be bought under control , but there is going to be a massive personal human cost to pay on all fronts.

I'm more likely to pick it up from the fuel nozzle handle at my local petrol station than anywhere else as the wife and I are pretty well recluses at the best of times let alone now.
just the to two of us and the woofers, works for us though.

London is running out of intensive care beds.

When that happens, if you’re a Londoner, you better hope you and every person you care about doesn’t become seriously ill. I don’t mean just with COVID-19, but any illness that might require critical care, like a heart attack, stroke or car accident. With no ICU beds, people with serious but treatable injuries and illnesses will be left to die. That is what is happening in Italy right now and we are on exactly the same trajectory currently.

No disposable gloves when I filled up today either! Washed hands as soon as I got home ...

But it doesn't stop there, if you use uncovered hands at any location such as filling up and your are driving inbetween destinations you can just move the virus around without knowing it.
The potential to pickup the virus from hard surfaces at a petrol station with bare hands is very high, but just washing them at home maynot be enough.
Don't forget you have touched the steering wheel, gear lever, door handles and switches etc , radio , long before you reach home so the potential for spreading it is mindboggling within the course of a 24hr period.
so you can get home wash your hands , then jump back in the car later in the day and touch all the areas that were first touched at the petrol station , and it just goes round and round...
It is such a contagious virus I don't think we'll stop it without a fight.

It lives in humans very well, and some humans are very dirty indeedy. not sure a grubby handle will bother it .

Don't forget your car keys, front door keys , door handles, the list is endless.
Exactly , the possible points of transmission are mind boggling which is why it cannot be controlled without radical steps.

But I thought it was all being blown out of proportion by the media? You’d have been fine not washing your hands mate.

The media is hyping it up but you'd be some sort of fool to carry on like you did before it appeared. 3 cases in my area with 120k population so hopefully the risk is small here anyway.

No doubt the idiots who went are the same selfish idiots who have been panic buying loo rolls, dried pasta and hand cleanser. Some people are just despicable.

It's every where now, people are just treating this as an excuse for a long holiday with pay and benefits and days out to the country.
I can honestly see the Gov enforcing a much stricter policy of lockdown and curfews very shortly if this keeps up.

short of having a full decontamination chamber, scenes from ET, before coming home and to anywhere you go there’s not so much can be done but every little helps.
For those who thinks it will pass like a cold it can but info from China so far says even those who recover can have life long respiratory issues. So not worth the risk.

I’d like to hear the science behind having “life long respiratory issues”

This is a new strain of virus so I’m unsure how anyone can do anything but speculate the long term effects?
Maybe you are right and you’re an experienced coronavirus research scientist, but if you’re not, I’d suggest not adding to the hysteria and panic by spreading unconfirmed information...
