What have you done to your A3 (8p) this week

Had service and MOT done last week which included inner CV joint nearside done which I wasn't expecting

Today I did cabin filter so heads up - something that usually gets forgotten about requires some attention!!

Enjoy!

Not sure why images aren't working/blocked so, take 2:

what did I do to your A3 this week, well driving along at 30 and someone decides to do something to my car without my permission ..

damage includes:
front bumper / bonnet / wing / wheel arch / headlight / side seal / door / wheel and that's as far as we got .... it looks like the camber of the wheel is f**ked so god knows whats bent under there .. rack? lower arm? strut ? etc etc

awaiting insurance company to make the decision ...

People like that are why I’m always so particular with where I park, unless you’re under cctv that’s working and HD clear, it’s such a gamble

I’ve not had anyone do that to me yet... still so paranoid cause I see stuff on here and even people doing it in real life

The amount of crashes I’ve avoided through being so vigilant is ridiculous, I reckon I’d have my van written off twice a month if I wasn’t so eagle eyed

This was last week but had to get it recovered to the garage as someone (Hi Mum) put diesel in it and drove it. Thought it was completely dead, ended up getting tank drained and flushed, new plugs and a new fuel filter. Still feels a bit off, however.

Fitted an ‘oemmounts’ magnetic phone holder tonight, similar to the clearmounts ones. Great if you don’t want it stuck to the windscreen!

Today was a 'stay at home' in the garden day, doing car jobs that bad weather had prevented for many weeks.
I knew the rear shocks had seen better days and they were ordered weeks ago, so they were today's main job.
The bump stops were completely shot, and when compressed they weren't very eager to extend again!

As we were removing the springs, we noticed that one had a broken coil with the end part still loose on the arm, so I managed to find a local parts company that were open and could deliver them by 3pm, so they were ordered.

We then found small rust patches when the arch liners were removed, so we ground off any rust we could find and used a sealer spray to protect the bare metal patches.

As we were waiting on the springs I cleaned up the rear calipers and gave them a coat of black paint, so they look a bit fresher now.

The suspension was eventually fitted and tested, and then we moved on to some smaller jobs like replacing broken panel clips, polishing the headlight glass and windscreen (massive improvement) and topping up fluids.

Quite a constructive day, and similar jobs lined up tomorrow for a Passat TDI that my mate recently bought with similar suspension issues. All whilst keeping strangers at least 2 metres away!

Polished the instrument panel. Posted in detailing. Moderate pad and polish at setting 2 and finished with sealant

Spent some time on the outside today. A good wash followed by clay, compound, polish and wax. Came up pretty well for all being done manually.

Thought id redo my calipers my self now that i can work being an electrician and going door to door etc as a previous reminded me they needed doing ill put some before and afters turned out pretty good i think.

Also thought id redo the rear tints on my taillights as they had a few scratched on the tint and boy was that a mistake, had to heat them up to get the existing tints off little did i know mine had condensation inside so i had removed the tints the rear taillight started to shatter and crack .

Anyways knowing i can't replace the taillights now i opted to wrap them.again untill this corona virus sods off luckily they're not visible under the new wrap but they are alot darker then i liked

F**k me that’s a facepalm moment...
On the plus side I’m sure the rear lights are about half the cost of front lights!

Those tints are the darkest I’ve ever seen haha surely they can’t be legal? Or even safe

cant lie, the facelift rear lights, especially the factory darker versions on the '11-12 plates look modern and have a 3d effect. tinting them cheapens the look and makes them look like the old style '04 versions that people seem to always tint imo. id have kept them standard

definitely looked better before. think they look better with no tint on them at all, but that light tint is quite subtle.

if its any consolation, my ones had the same condensation so i tried to seal them with sicilone sealant as it seemed the edges werent water tight anymore. couple weeks later i had a dirty fat crack down the middle of one of them, i can only assume its related, so you might have ended up replacing them anyway.
