Hi. I have a A5 3.0 Quattro with 275x30x20 tyres on it. Problem is the roads where I stay are out in the country and a bit rough in places so I am experiencing the car tram-lining. The tyre still have about 3mm of tread on them. If I change them for new ones will this problem stop or should I think about changing the wheels to 255x40x19? Seen some nice A4 Le Mans ones with decent tyres on them

What make are your tyres, I've had this previously with Conti's, changed to Goodyear F1's, and no more tramlining.
3mm is low on any tyre IMO.

Thanks for the reply.
I think they are falken. They were on the car when I bought it. It’s going to a job to fini a decent tyre a a decent price at that size.

Blackcircles or tyre leader is who I use.

Tyre leader looks good. Still it expensive. Being a Quattro I need to change all 4 tyres at the same time. changing to 19@ rims is becoming more appealing.

They width is probably the main factory tbh, wide tyres will tram line to a certain degree. Maybe some brands are better than others.

I had four wheel alignment done and thid helped greatly with reducing the tramlining

I had similar tram lining issues made worse when driving over road markings. Had a 4 wheel alignment done which made no difference. Changed the continental tyres for Bridgestone and the problem has gone. Makes a huge difference to the car.
