I like a look and good be good timing for me in 2021/2022. Can then compare against new RS3 and others. Will also still offer rear drive or 4WD and manual.

What do you all think?

Looks pretty good, the door groove looks very similar to the new A3, unless that’s just my eyes

Nope, has the S58 3.0 twin turbo

The second-generation M2 coupé, which takes the internal codename G87, is scheduled to go on sale in the UK in 2022. It will bring with it a detuned version of BMW M’s latest six-cylinder petrol engine, sourced from the soon-to-be-revealed new M3 and M4 and the recently introduced X3 M and X4 M.

Not sure if it's 2.0 or 3.0.
I found it difficult to get my head around the manufacturers now getting all this bhp from 2 litre engines until someone said that Formula 1 cars are only small engines.
I do prefer the sound of a 3 litre V6 though. When I bought the C43, I was looking at a CLA45 that was 4.3 seconds to 60 (and was cheaper) rather than mine which I think is 4.7 (I don't race to 60 so it's irrelevant) but it did actually pull me more towards the 3 litre than a 2 litre that is a bit quicker. I think it will take people a bit of getting used. to. It is me. I do love the sound of the 3 litre though compared to my other half's 2.0 a35. I'd choose a 3 litre over his 2 litre anyday. He wants 3 litre next as well just for the sound.
He is actually going to look at an M4 competition tomorrow. I think they are something ridiculous like 70 odd thousand new but this one is 40 odd, pre reg, I think he said around 100 miles on it.

Same here. Audi went diesel with SQ5, so went M40i straight six

None of this makes sense. They already have a 2GC with a transverse 4 cylinder layout into which a straight 6 will not fit. To make a 6 cylinder version will require a small angle V engine like a VR6, which isn't BMW's thing or the existing bodyshell fitted to a bespoke, shortened 3/4 series chassis.

who knows. Time will tell what they end up going....4 cyl, 6 cyl, 4WD, RWD.

Whilst the 1 series has gone FWD, and 4 cyl, the 2 Series still has the 3.0 straight six

New 2 series will retain the RWD setup, which means it’ll have the detuned S58 straight 6.

The 2 series gran coupe (an entirely different car) which is based on the FWD 1 series will have a 4 cylinder

BMW doing their very best to confused everyone with their line ups
