Hi everyone, sorry if the answer has been posted before I did search but couldn’t find exactly what I’m looking for.

This morning my 1.0l A1 started to smell of burning rubber, kind of ignored it initially as didn’t think it was my car and no warning light or any reason to believe it would be, it’s 2019 and done 14k miles, after the smell didn’t vanish after a few minutes I realised it was me. Once the engine had cooled I popped the bonnet and noticed the coolant had gone below minimum, not sure when this happened but the level hadn’t really dropped since 2017 last time I checked In November.
I have it booked it with the dealer on Friday but wondered if anyone has had this before and what I can possibly expect. Also if I top up the coolant in the meantime can I still drive it? (I know no one can say for certain without seeing it but just want opinions of people who have had the same problem)
TIA

Yes you should top it up, the type of coolant should be on the tank, coolant can burn off during use, best to monitor the level until the garage can check it fully
