Hi all,

Going to look at an RS3 tomorrow morning and it’s looking very likely that I’m going to have it! All the finance is sorted and this will be the 4th car I’ve had from this dealership so I know it’s going to be bang on! Can’t wait.

Sam.

Hope it all goes well and you can do the deal.
So I went to view the car and it is absolutely unbelieveable to be honest. It’s lirerally like brand new, inside and out. It has everything other than the pan roof. It doesn’t have a reverse cam either but has the sensors and parking aid of course. One thing that I find quite baffling is that it doesn’t have auto hold!? I thought all of them had this from factory. How can you have an auto with no auto hold!? What do you do at stop starts? I’m not sure what to think about that and I don’t know whether I’m put off by this!?
Cheers.

My PFL RS3 didn’t have hill hold and I didn’t give it a second thought. I now have it in my FL and I wouldn’t be without it, it makes it much more comfortable when sitting in traffic

I’ve just been looking at others for sale and it seems that none of them at all have them!? What do you do without one then in traffic etc? I’m coming from an RSQ3 and that has it, well every auto car I’ve had, has had it. I don’t understand why it wouldn’t be on there.

Mine doesn't have it and I can't say it's too much of a pain, I just put it into park if at lights, takes no time to switch back out of it. Go get your car, they're awesome!

I just used to sit with my foot on the brake. I’m the opposite to you, my previous three automatic cars didn’t have it so it’s a bit of a novelty, as I said above I wouldn’t want to be without it now I’ve seen the light!

Yeah, sit with foot on the brake if it’s only for short periods of time. I suppose it’s easy to to just knock it into neutral and put your foot on the brake for longer periods. I know I don’t know what to think with always having had it haha. The car is mega though.

I know chap. Small minor thing to overshadow how mint it is.

Surely that would not be a deal breaker? A nice to have feature that became standard, but as you say foot on brake or pop into neutral no big deal I would have thought

It is a minor detail, especially if it’s got a load of the options ticked! What colour is it?

I know I suppose so in the grand scheme of things, it’s nothing is it.

You've not had the RSQ3 2 minutes, what's up have you not got on with it or are you just a serial car swapper lol

Yup was all set for Sepang, then found a Catalunya with the spec I wanted. It's a lovely colour, you won't regret it.

Naylor, if hill hold assist isn't fitted i believe it can be retrofitted! If this is all that's stopping you purchasing it then i'd suggest talking to Alex at VAG Car Coding or HazzyDays first before making your choice! HazzyDays website lists it at £295 + Vat which isn't too bad if the Car in question is perfect bar that option! :thumbs up: Good luck with purchasing one whenever you find 'the one'!

What’s wrong with the electric handbrake switch in traffic, takes all of a second to flick up.

Just a serial car swapper mate. I’m so bad for it. The RSQ3 was a compromise to be fair, I wanted an RS3 so the time has come now haha.

I know but it’s the fact you have to knock it into Park. It’s not a massive hinderance, it’s just remembering to do it all when you’ve always had it if you know what I mean.

Thanks for the info chap. Will definitely have a look into that, I think this will be ‘the one’ haha!

I know how you feel bud, too many distractions
I'd take the RS3 over the RSQ3 but the need to have an SUV means its not a route for me.
So when you say compromise, do you feel it's less of an RS or is it just a styling thing?

I’ve literallt always wanted an RS3. Been a 5 cylinder fan boy for a long while haha! The compromise was because we have a little one and needed the bit of extra space you get in the RSQ3. Although it isn’t that much bigger really is it. My wife prefers the slightly higher ride height too. It’s nothing to do with styling as I love the look of the RSQ3 and most about that car, the one thing I don’t really like is the interior though, so bog standard compared to the RS3. I’ve got the RSQ3 sounding absolutely awesome if I’m being honest, sounds more or less like the RS3 with sports exhaust. But it’s just that novelty of actually having an RS3 I’m really craving.

Your wife will grow to love the RS3 as well m8. Mine was pestered for around a year before she eventually caved to my theory that life would be enhanced by having one.
She couldn't see the fascination to begin with but when she's driving it and encounters one of the many obstinate drivers you encounter on today's roads, I see that familiar smile on her face as she puts it in dynamic and sounds the 5 pot roar as said driver is dispatched in a very short space of time.

Yes, I hope so! She always does eventually come round to the idea and absolutely loves each car we have (which has been a hell of a lot in just a few years). But she isn’t happy at the moment at this idea I’ve put to her haha. She won’t have a choice though I’m afraid!!

Have the PFL model, first thing once I switch TC to off is switch off the SS function, in traffic leave car in D and push on the electric handbrake. Unless you are waiting along time in traffic you will be fine in D in this mode, N if you are going to be waiting for sometime.
Cars on 51k now no problems whatsoever

Also does anyone know whether the air box dimensions on the RSQ3 are the same as the RS3? I’ve not long had an uprated APR panel filter in the RSQ3 and would like to swap it over if I change cars, if possible.

But you don’t have to knock it into park?

You put the electronic hand brake on, leave it in drive, it doesn’t try and keep pulling or anything as that’s exactly the same as auto hold, except you’ve done it manually.

Then just use the gas to drive off and disengage, again the same as the auto hold.

So the handbrake is automatic and you can release it just by pulling away?
