I have noticed recently that my car is slightly shaking occasionally when idling and not being driven so it isn't a smooth idle.

I don't recall it doing that before. I recently had an Independent change my sparks plugs and I am wondering if its relating to that?

However I'm also not sure if it did it before and I'm only noticing it now because I'm aware they were changed.

Does anyone else have this experience? Like I said it's not all the time. Only occasionally but want to know if it's an issue or not.

I'm generally is "S" mode on the gearbox so the revs sit around 1100rpm at idle, but when I occasionally drop back to "D" and the rpm sit around 750-800rpm I have thought that it wasn't a particularly smooth idle. I just figured it was the nature of the engine. Maybe "S" dumps in a bit more fuel which is mucking up the plugs or something? Tbh it's not enough for me to be bothered...wait until it breaks properly haha

You're generally driving in S around town??? Your fuel economy must be horrible mate?

Well S, and then across to M.....but yer it's ordinary. Luckily I don't pay for fuel :whistle2:

I have found the same on my car and the 2019 car we have at work, the idle is a bit lumpy at times.

Mines lumpy after a damn good thrashing pops at idle too.

Good old 5 cylinder......

Is the consensus then that some shaking at idle is normal?

I really don’t recall it before. But you know how it is once you fixated on something you notice it all the time.

Mine was heightened by the Upper / lower dog bone inserts, can ‘feel’ the engine more in the chassis now.

The Daza engine can sound a little like its mis-firing after a spirited drive.

I checked the misfires per 1000 revs on each cylinder with VCDS and they are slowly creeping up from a year ago when I last checked.

No error codes or anything stored and the car performs 100%.

Out of interest how many miles has your car now covered?

I noticed mine did it the other day when I started it on the drive and left it running for a few mins. Must be a feature :)

Is it as good as the Golf R though ;)

TX.

Golf R is a superb car.

I was leaning towards an A45s but the short test drive I’ve had didn’t blow me away plus the no discount 56k tag to get pano roof and adaptive dampers.

The engine sound isn’t great.

Trying to get a longer test drive, however Merc aren’t helpful at all with that.

Dealers are wanting to keep miles off the demos.
