What have you done to your A3 (8p) this week

Bought myself a new midconsole, not a EU one but a US-style one :).

What's the difference I hear you thinking..
Well, the cup holder is on a much more logical place than the EU one, like in the middle next to the handbrake.
And the connector for AUX, sigarettes and a additional 12V are in the EU cupholder place under the armrest, out of sight so cables won't be laying all over the seats..

New they cost around 120-180 euro's, I got myself this one for 70. Thats around ~60 pounds.

interested to see how this goes as i cant stand the layout of my current center console !!

you sound so happy after your purchase of a US style centre console. If you have LHD, let's see how happy you are after fitting it. Measure twice and cut once. It's not PnP. Make sure you have some suds during install
Why is it not PnP?

Everythjng is on the same spot except the connectors, thats not a big issue tho..

Gonna take a leap of faith again, ordered a RS3 HBA autodimming mirror and the Kufatec retrofit cable. Gonna try to make it work in my A3 8P.
Have talked to @NHN and he told me I also need to swap out my stalk, luckily I already have a springloaded stalk (for HBA to turn off when it detects another car).

Will document the **** out of it since there is litteraly nothing to find but suggestions and no info that could be substantiated with proof or pictures e.g.

Gonna try the same.already have the cable from kufatec and got me an A1 mirror to retrofit on my A3.
Already have rain sensor and auto dimming mirror on mine.so must find the time to go to the garage and link it to the CAN bus and then code it.
Why do you need a new stalk?mine is also spring loaded,ie one push forward to turn on high beams

Yep, but if the stalk stays on its position when you push it forward than HBA cant turn the high beam off.

You need the stalk that will return to mid position when pushed forward and back. The HBA coding will then keep the High Beam on untill it detects another car and can then set it back to normal beam.

Yep exactly what mine does!guess I m good to go.any hints on coding?

First code your CAN-gateway, enable HBA.
After go into 09. centr. electrics, I can't recall the exact byte but thought it was Byte 18 or so, there should be the option to enable "High beam assist installed".

Since you already have the rain/lightsensor you don't have to do any additional coding for that.
What mirror do you have? (Do you happen to have the partnr?)

Mine will come somewhere next week(s); 8P0857511C

Mine comes of an 2012 RS3 8P.
I'm not sure a 2015 mirror works with an 03/12 A3 8P ECU and CAN gateway....

Example: Steeringwheels, I can't fit a 2015 A3 steeringwheel in my 8P. It will fit physically, but the controllers in it work different mate..

Especially when it comes out of an A1, that's a whole different model. I'm not sure if Audi uses the same controllers/ECU on those cars as the 8P etc etc.. Huge leap of faith you are taking mate :p.

Just fitted the US-style midconsole today.

Comparing the two. Top = EU, bottom = US.

How hard was this to do ... i'm abit of a novice but I cant stand the EU style and would love for the US one ? don't suppose you'd fancy doing a quick "how too guide" :p

Just did the final payments for the mirror and retrofit cable from Kufatec.
That means that within 2 weeks or so there should be a working mirror and a new how-to online on this forum for retrofitting a HBA (High Beam Assist) mirror :).

Found a complete(r) S-line interiorlight unit for €20,- who can control the lights under my sunprotectors (if they call so in English, not sure).
One step further in completing to a full S-line rebuild :).

Already ordered OSRAM 3860 LEDs from the Chinese supplier :D. Will be in somewhere in 3/4 weeks.

The old unit;

This type definitely goes in the boot (trunk), can’t remember off the top of my head about the glove box...

Interior LEDs are a great, inexpensive modification.

It sure is! Yeah I've ordered LED's from Ali a while ago but they won't fit (too big for the fitting they need to go into). So I'm curious where you got those since the glovebox is the same fitting as the trunk!

u sure its S line ? I mean i have that in my audi and its not S line :)

I think they are all t10 type leds
you can take old halogen out and measure it, they can be slight l longer since there is enough room to fit them

Hello,
New to this forum and have found it very useful for a number of problems that I've had. I was hoping to find a solution to this one and I apologise in advance, this has been asked but I can't find a definitive answer.
My fans dont work! I've read it could be all sorts, a sensor, thermostat, ECU, wiring. I have an audi a3 1.9 tdi 2004. At idle neither fan spins, temp stays around 100, with air con or heaters on there is no change at all. When I turn the a/c on, they blow in the cockpit, just neither fan on at radiator. It's the same if I turn the heaters on, they blow in the cockpit but neither fan at radiator spin.
Please, (in layman's terms!) could somebody help me get to the source of this problem? I am generally very good at working things out and fixing them. Pictures would also be very helpful for me as if you mention a part I probably wont know what it is or where to find it, until I see it for myself!
All help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I have a wire with blue and brown wire, not attached to anything, just ontop of the fans. What the heck is that for? Doesnt seem to reach anywhere, this couldn't simply be my problem for the fans, could it?!! If so, where do I connect these suspicious wires? I can take pics later to better explain these wires.
Thanks

Brown wires are most of the time earth/ground wires.
I don't recall the blue one.

What "fan" doesn't work? It's not really clear in your story to me. The fan in your grille will only spin when you turn on the A/C or to cool the engine. If you mean the fan for the internals, that one is behind your glovebox.

Already making preps for saturdaymorning (fitting an HBA mirror). Changing the stalk that needs to "click" automaticly back to mid position for HBA to work. Soooo, swapping the stalk from another module to my CC module stalk :). Would not recommend, ****** job :D

Thank you for the reply,
Both engine fans dont spin. Blowers for ac and heating work. Whether heating is on or off, whether A/C is on or off, the engine fans dont spin. Idled for half an hour, stayed around 100 degrees but again, neither engine fan would spin. The brown wire is indeed the old earth/ground, it seems to have been replaced with the red wire that goes to the bolt on the chassis above the fuse box in the engine bay. First pic is the fan connector, taken from under car, the second is where the red wire attaches to chassis and the third is the unknown wire ontop of the fan, right next to the bonnet catch/release. This wire doesnt seem to reach anywhere, I cant find anything near it that it could have broke free from but it appears like it was disconnected at some point.

Try to contact your car seller, this seems to be a ****** selfdone job.

I reckon you should check the thermostat since your engine fan wont turn in. And get ur car scanned with vcds first. Im 100% that could tell you more.. there are loads of users here who can help you with that.
