Hi all,

Not for me but for my dad.

He's got a 14 plate A4 Avant.

The issue lies with his headlights auto alignment.

They adjust to point only about a few feet in front of the bonnet. Clearly this isnt great when driving at night.

He's been to the local dealership about it and they said there were no issues with the system.

The motor isnt broken (it adjusts up and down when engine is started) so im not really sure which part of the system is broken.

If someone could let me know that'd be great.

Thanks.

Check the plastic levelling sensor arm attached to the bottom wishbone on the passenger side.

It can break or unscrew leaving the headlights thinking the car is fully loaded.

(This is based on the fact the lights used to be aligned further ahead of the car, the system could be fine just the headlights are aimed too low all the time otherwise.)

Alright thanks for that.

He had an MOT today and unsurprisingly failed on headlight alignment. Not sure how they fixed it, havent asked yet but i assume it wasnt too complex.

Thanks.
