USB/AUX Sockets retrofit in Pre-Facelift A3

Hello,

I’m retrofitting an MIB2 unit in a pre-facelift A3. As part of the retrofit I’m installing the USB/AUX socket from a facelift A3 (81A035736).

The new module has two connectors, one is the same as my current AMI unit but the second has a different connector. I can source the connector it’s self but I need the pin outs in order to connect to the green Quadlock connector. Does anyone have these?

If not then a couple of pictures from the black connector on the USB unit and from the rear of the Quadlock would be extremely useful as the wires are colour coded. These could be from any facelift A3?

The attached pictures show where the cable goes from and too.

So I have now located the Pin Assignments for the Quadlock. I now need the Pin Assignments for the USB/AUX module. There are 6 pins in total. The part number is 81A 035 736 but I believe part number 8V0035708 and 4G0035736 is the same. Would anybody be able to look on Elsawin whether the Pin Assignments are available for either of these?

On the Pin Assignments for the Quadlock it refers to "R199" if this is useful for Elsawin?

Any help would be much appreciated and would also be of great interest to anyone doing a MIB2 retrofit who wishes to get Apple CarPlay/Android Auto working.

here is the pin out of the 6 pole connector:
1- KL30 (Battery+) red-black striped
2- KL31 (Battery-) brown
3- USB_VBUS green-yellow striped (iPod detect originally in preFL cars MIB1, red)
4- AuxIn_R yellow
5- AuxIn_LR- gray (in preFL cars, brown)
6- AuxIn_L green
Do you know what is the part nr# of the 6 pole connector?

I have the Audi Multimedia connector and i want to use this too.
From elsawin 2x usb + aux is R293 not R199

I have elsawin, any request please let me know. I'm tring to undertstand this schema too.

New to the forum. I am also looking to install the USB interface, does anyone know the parts codes for the plugs to use the old loom if possible ?

Seuzo, did you track down the part code for the connector as I also need it.
 
Cheers for confirming. I thought if I could get the plugs and the schematics, I could change the existing wiring to suit.
 
Got the loom. Anyone know what pins the red and black wires from the usb interface connect too ?

i also did the retrofit from to MIB2 in my 2015 Audi a3 8v
i only need to connect the usb harness
bought this cable from china

do i need to remove the old green connector from the quadlock mmi
and replace it for the new one from the red circle i made?


And where do i need to connect the 2 wires?

Hello,
yes, just replace green connector (block "C") with the new one. You had AMI interface I think this is why you have a green connector already.
The two wires you asking for is the 12V (Battery + and -). You can use the supply of MIB2 or central keypanel or cigar lighter ...

Hi mate I’m trying to fit the wireless charging module you wouldn’t know were to connect my wires coming from the charging module do you?

Hi ! I read in another forum that those 2 new usb is needed to activate Android Auto or CarPlay. Is this true ?

Hello, i am trying to make the usb for mobile charging to work. I gave to 6 pin connector pin 1 - 12v and to pin 2 - ground but the usb2 ( for mobile charging) is dead.
Please any help? Am i do something wrong?
The pin 3 is nessesary for the usb ports to work and if yes, where i can find the cable behind mib unit?

I got the cable and usb block.
We could not get the USB to charge my phone or be recognised. So android auto won't work.
I bought another usb block 81A035736 thinking the USB block was faulty but its still not working.
I have this message on obdeleven. All I can think now is the cable is faulty. Has anyone else had this problem.

Need to connect the two wires (the ones with connector pins on) to power and earth.
 
@DJAlix if I have power going to the usb block in underarm, even if its not connecting to the mmi it should still charge phone shouldn't it.

Never tried but why would you do that? The cable set you have there should be plug and play as long as power and earth are connected.
 
Just trying to work out why it's not working. I am going to check power again to usb. Wondering if there is a bad connection.

turned out the cables on the wire from mmi to usb were in the wrong lace in socket that lugs into usb. all working now

@DJAlix I am hoping you can both help.

I have just purchased the pre facelift A3 and installed upgraded MIB2 system - I am having the issue with the USB sockets - I have the double socket with AUX also - I purchased the wiring from Ali Express however it came with the green connector not connected and the red connector broken - I have another on the way however am making my own loom... I have the connectors BUT please can you help in layman's terms where each wire goes from the green connector to the black connector in back of the USB port.... I have wired the green connector with 5 wires as per the one from Ali express but please can you advise where each of these go in the black connector - Thanks in anticipation.....
