What’s generally better to use ? I don’t want to be constantly jacking the car up and damaging the sill’s, Anyone used these adjustable ramps? they do a hydraulic version aswell, I will be spending a fair bit of time under the car any they shout give plenty of room to squeeze my fat self under

They do a few good ramps and are fairly local to me so will nip down and have a proper look

They do one for up to 5 ton but is nearly £800 but
Like you say the frame of it would restrict access under neath , that why I like the car ramps

1500kg limit is a little close for comfort on an S3 tbh... mine weighed in at 1475kg with the 20v in, no doubt heavier with the v6 anchor

You can't get right underneath with this one either but can see it would be useful for some stuff just not a lardy S3 lol

<tuffty/>
True is a little to near the mark weight wise for a lardy S3 lol.

I have axel stands but constantly jacking the car up and down have seen a few damaged sill’s by doing this plus don’t get that much height with the stands and getting them on the top rung can be a pain as the jack doesn’t go high enough and with these at the lowest is 200m (400mm highest)so the car would drive on them without extensions to lower the angle, which would need along run up and with car facing towards public foot path would mean I’d be near enough working on the pavement , not ideal when swapping the engine and gearbox, I know they are a bit expensive compared normal ramps but they will got higher and less space needed to get on them

Bigger Jack with a puck on top no damage to seals and a higher lift

Have seen them and they are still
An option if I don’t need the extension ramps. How low is your car? do you need the extensions ramps to get on them
I've had loads of different cars up on them with no issues, occasionally a plank of wood on the run up to give a bit extra clearance. Only time I had an issue was with my zed, I had to take the bumper off to get it on them. Brilliant for changing clutches etc as they go way higher than any trolley jack and can be locked off at those heights. If you work on your cars yourself these are a god send.
