Hello I have an A3 1.8 s tronic. I just had a EML problem which was fixed by Audi, they changed the thermostat and the coolant and the bypass valve. Anyways the first day I take it out from Audi (today) the way I drive is ragggg the engine so I accelerate a lot, but after experimenting it multiple times, the EPC goes on after 4,000-4,500 rpm on 5th or 6th gear. And the power would go abit down, as in, the car wouldn’t accelerate as fast. Only happens if I really put my foot down, it would go off after restarting the car. I mean ist abit fishy that even though I’ve had the car for 2 years this problem only occurs after when it’s just been fixed by Audi???
Opinions and advices would be highly appreciated :)

More to this ^^^ as the EPC light comes on, I also get a message about the start/stop malfunction not working. And also, as the EPC light comes on the car has a slight hiccup but then carries on driving normally but I think with less power (it would take longer for the RPMs to rise)

Take it back to Audi and have them look at it.

If it starts sounding like a bag of nails at resting revs, then stalls, it's a piston problem, and probably a new engine. Worst case obviously.

But take it back to Audi, and don't drive it around at the weekend.

I had the epc light come on sometimes when I accelerated away from a roundabout (same message about start stop as well). Exactly the same symptoms, power would die and barely accelerate. Took it to an indie garage and they plugged it in and found it was due to a processor fault, said they'd only seen it on a car that had been remapped and not put back to the correct stock software. I was going to remap it anyway so I asked them to do so and I've had no issues since.

If you've had it since new then it probably won't be the same issue.

What? So you've just took it to an independent dealer this morning and had it remapped? Without Audi having the chance to find the fault and rectify it? Especially as you said the fault only arose after Audi had it in for another issue.

Anything that now goes wrong, Audi will wash their hands of it.

I'm not the OP.
