Evening all,
I am looking for a bit of help with a watch problem and was hoping there maybe a watch guru on the forum.
My trusty daily workhorse watch stopped working a few days ago, battery failure after a few years .
I've had the watch since 2006 and replaced the battery a few times so its not a major issue, the problem I now have is this.
When I removed the back cover and extracted the old battery I dropped it shortly after and it just cant be found, not a problem I thought , wrong as I didn't make a note of what battery it was last time round....derrrrr

I've rung countless outlets and know one can help , or more likely wont unless I get them to fit a new battery at £40 and that's never going to happen.

I've emailed Breil for help with the battery number but nothing.

So , I know its a big ask but can anyone assist me with the correct battery / number I need.
The watch is a Breil (model No 2519773567 )
Ducati Corse Carbon special edition.

It maybe my daily watch but its been a good old thing and i'd really like to carry on using it if possible.

Any help would be really greatfully received.

Google?

Mr google knows everything.

Sure if you search the exact model it will give you an idea.
Just my 2p worth

I tried , not much info full stop and no info on what battery model number it uses , either oem or alternate brands.

Surely a good jeweller will know if he had it in his hand?
If it fits it will work.
Simple electronics watches

My local jeweller said he needed to see the old battery but would be £10 based on what the battery was, all the others have quoted £40 + vat and postage to fit a new battery.
I don't mind paying a few pounds over the top , but £40+ for a sub £5.00 battery , that is just taking the mick frankly.
Hence why I was reaching out for help here really.

Show me where the battery sits PLEASE

Yes indeedy, they emailed me and they also wouldn't supply me any info other than they needed the watch and it would be £40 + vat and £7.00 postage.

Seems like a licence to print money...

Just been thinking , I wonder if its worth me looking up the movement maker and see if they have any specs/battery info, surely a lot of brands use the same movements across a wide range of watches.

Wow, that's a 5hitter.
To be fair that was the first decent company I stumbled across.
Via Google.
Surely though they don't own the Monopoly on this type of thing, and it's not as if it's a specific spec only available to them to supply and fit.
I am feeling your frustration now, and it's getting me cross.
Just out of curiosity, have you asked the
manufacturer for battery specs?
*Edit* just re-read the original post, and, yes you have. Doh...

Personally, I would pop into a decent watch shop/jeweler that services watches.
Sure they will be able to fit and seal a new button battery for less than £40.
Or, pay for a service, that way you get the best of both worlds. A new battery and an oil change and plugs lol
Just for info tho, a service on my mates wife's tag watch was £200

Its one of those really irritating situations , I've bought them before and they are approx. £3.50 depending on source, but never more than £5.00 even for genuine sony batteries.
I can kick myself really for (1) loosing the darn thing and (2) not making a note of the battery last time around.....arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Just seems bonkers frankly, and i'm not having it.
I'll keep on searching , i'll get there in the end .

Oh definitely.
You can buy cards of 100 of them in different sizes from Tesco and such.
Find the right size that works, * write it down*, then buy a decent one.

I'm pretty sure its a 1.55v , not a 3.0v battery.
I'm currently searching the interwebby for movement makers that are used in Breil watches.
You never know something may just pop up, would be nice if it did, but that's asking a bit much .

Where did you buy the last battery Rob ? if it was off the tinterweb you should have it in your buying history.

Well I've struck it lucky and managed to get my watch battery problem solved this afternoon.
Not really happy to be ripped off by repair shops etc I decided to make a final push and search the webby for the manufacturer of the movement in a hope it may get my some better results.
After having a really good look in the back of the watch there was a tiny name and number , really small and needed a mag glass to read it.
A webby search brought up watch movement calibrating page with the exact same movement as in the Breil, and with the specs etc, result or what.

Battery is an SR927W and sourced one local to me for £3.25 for a genuine item , really does prove how easy it is to get ripped off by shops and dealers.

Popped it in and jobs all done, happy bunny this afternoon now.:yahoo::icon thumright:

here's a piccy from the webpage I found , not my breil but exact same movement, its used in a fair few watches by the looks of things.

Breil3

Anyway, many thanks for the relies chaps, allways appreciated .:icon thumright:

Well done for the detective work, yes Miyota is a popular movement. Now you have a permanent record of the battery type in this thread

I worked at a well known watch repair shop for a long time when i was a lot younger....

Used to strip and repair "top end" watch's everyday, open them up and the movement inside was a £5 pos from China lol

Altho i did manage to build myself a very nice Emporio Armani watch from brand new spare parts.

Well the important thing is that all is working properly now and back on my wrist, happy days.:icon thumright:
