Are you disagreeing with your own statements?
Losing £3k on extras over 2 years = £125 a month, over 3 years = £83 a month.
I never said it wasn't "worth it" just that not loading a car with extras won't mean it "doesn't sell".

I'd rather lose £7k on an RS3 over two years (your claim) than £3k on a few flashy extras.
 
Extras do have value. Pano roof example is an example. Cars with extras sell better. 2016-2018 RS3 lost £5.5k 2018 -2019(69) RS4 lost £6k both with extras. The market for S and RS models demands extras. Who wants a new Audi without parking, virtual cockpit, many want Pan roof bigger wheels and better seats. Generally speaking the more options you have the bigger overall discount.

The used car market is price driven. Personally if I was buying used I'd rather buy a newer car that had done 10000 miles a year for £xxxxx than one a year older with an extra 10000 miles but loaded with extras for the same money. I'd be thinking "the newer car will last me another year"
Every time.
The S3 is a mass produced production car. Most people buy them to provide transport and don't think it worth spending an extra £500 for a bit of extra coloured stitching on what is in effect exactly the same seats.

I've got the Audi design pack with the red stitching in my S3 must say it does look good and I would spec it on the next S/Rs i buy :thumbs up:

I specc'd B&O because I like listening to music and would spec it again. That's not the point.
Do I expect to see any reasonable percentage of the £430 odd quid it cost back when I sell? No.

Super Sport Seats are different seats, nothing to do with colour stitching. Still thinking you should buy a cheap Hyundai if you follow your argument.

I agree, you buy because you want it and the fact is you do get a return but that isn't the driving force. Decent sound system is!

SS Seats, I’ve had both normal sports seats in an S Line and SS Seats in an S3. You pay your price and make your choice with spec don’t you, simple as that. I recon one with Likely demands a little extra 2nd hand. Which you choose and what extra’s you go for will have little to do with what any of us think, and more to do with your priorities at the time of purchase and how deep your pockets are, or skills with man maths to justify large chunks of wonga on a motor. Let’s be honest, you buy what your comfortable with but really smart people with an average wage probably would / should buy a Hyundai

Only 50% correct! Check it out. The base is the same, the rest isn’t. I didn’t order sss for my 2016 RS3 having been happy with the standard SS i had in a 2014 S3. Current 2018 S3 was a dealer order and has SSS . They are far more supportive and have lumber and a lovely ‘Bentley’ quilted look on front and rear seats. The new RS4 SSS are even better again with multi massage functions. Stick with your Hyundai mate ... extras make a good car even better.

They feel exactly the same as the "normal" S3 seats so all you really get is a bit of stitching and Halfordsesque styling. If you were prepared to pay for something you didn't want then well done the dealer. Complete waste of money in my eyes and I wouldn't pay extra for them.
What are these Hyundais you keep banging on about?

I didn’t pay extra for SSS!! They do look nice and backs are different! Following your argument buying anything other than a base spec Hyundai to get from A to B is a waste of money! People like Audi’s and ‘extras’ and will pay for them.
 
I have a pretty big upper back/shoulders - specced the SS seats especially as they certainly feel a lot more supportive than the regular seats I tried for me. That said in terms of lower back bolsters the normal ones felt just as supportive.

If it was a new car from the dealer that "didn't charge" for the SSS you are deluded about how dealers work.
Nice to imagine you are driving a car with Bentley touches though.

No delusion here. I bought a pre built new S3 and said I was interested but not with some of the extras and ended up with an amazing bargain. I did not pay for SSS. It was a cash deal on the last day of the month!! Looking at your profile I suspect you may have limited experience in negotiating. Enjoy the Hyundai!

They sold you a car from stock. If you think you got the SSS free, yes, you're deluded.

They made no money on this particular end of the month deal apart from volume bonus from Audi. You need to check your facts. Throwing in free SSS and a huge discount does happen occasionally so dealer can hit targets.

They were also free on my RS4. You won’t get that with a Hyundai!
