Hello,

I just bought a 2012 TT and the control on the right steering wheel spoke has a button that is begging me to push it!
So I do... and the radio shows the word SPEAK and a female voice says 'como'. Not the late Perry, I assume, but what does it want? If I fool with the buttons below the LCD panel I can get to to SETUP but then I am lost.
The manual I have doesn't mention this feature at all, or if it does I can't find it!

I am guessing when this feature is setup properly it may allow some voice control of some features, like the Benz, Comand system.

For a while I thought setting the language in the center readout would affect the voice but clearly they two aren't connected.

Any help would be appreciated. Nice to be back in a TT again after years with a Prius, which I really DID enjoy on many levels.

Thank you all in advance and sorry for not using the correct terminology for what I am looking at.

Regards,

J T

Como, that's a new one, lol, you sure

Yeah i'm sure I've heard it enough times but what's the answer to the question? How to get it to speak English and how to set it up so it actually does something. OR was it included as part of some package that isn't there at all on the vehicle?

Would you like me to post a .wav or mp3 of that voice so you can hear it for yourself?

Which head unit do you have, if it's an rns-e then go into language settings & change to English unless it's just the phone that has voice control which means the bt language needs changing.

I don't know how to reply, the thing just says "Audi Concert" on the head unit I see no other numbers on it.
Plus the language in the display between the tach and speed to is set to English. I thought sure that if I changed to English that would solve it but it didn't. Seems the two are independent of each other. I'd think that getting the head unit into the SETUP mode would allow me to make changes to it, but I can't get beyond that menu to make any changes.

Would a .jpg of the unit help you at all? I can easily do that to help get it sorted.

Thank you,

J T

Post a pic up, but it's not rns-e so it's not full voice control, it's probably just the phone.

Try pressing the button & say help.

Hi NHN,
I have donne that and get no usable response, sadly.
I was hoping the car had Bluetooth but apparently it doesn't. Asking for help = no joy,

Thanks again,

J T

If you press the button & it says speak it must have BT, that head unit doesn't support SDS.

Seems like I have part of a system for a cell phone, I found a very small note in the owners manual that addresses the problem.

Oh well at least I know now.

Thanks for your help,

J T

What was the solution for others to read ;)

I'd love to give you the page number in the owners manual that addressed the vocalizing... but of course I can't find it now. I DO know that the manual for the NAV system does briefly mention it. It has to do with voice commands for the NAV, which my car doesn't have. The portion I saw in the owners manual, and can't find mentioned the button on the wheel being used with a car fitted for cell phone use.

I know as soon as I post this I'll find the bleeding page..............when I do I will add it to this posting.

In the Quick Reference Guide on the Navigation section under Item 2 it mentions how to use the button and wheel on the right spoke of the steering wheel. Presumably some parts are included even if you have no NAV, The female voice will reply to you if you speak, but what language it is I haven't a clue. Nor do I know how to change the language to English <shrug> It might even allow you to change modes for the radio or change tracks in the CD player. but not knowing what she's saying, besides the silly 'como' makes the feature useless.

Yeah it's as advised, change through the bt kit.

Upload a video so I can hear the language.

There is no way that I can find to delete all the preset stations. See attached .jpgs

It's the bt kit, someone has changed it to Spanish, can be changed, whereabouts are you?

I am in eastern Pa, near Harrisburg.
What is the 'bt kit' if I may ask?
Thanks
J T

Close to me then lol.

Bluetooth kit.

Find someone with vcds near you or if friendly with a dealer or garage that has the diagnostic kit, ask them to login to the car, module 77 & change the voice digit to English.

If you get stuck, WhatsApp me, maybe delayed as dealing with family issues ATM but I'll try to help.

NHN,

Thanks for the information. NO need to worry about it, its something i have no use for unless it would allow me to connect my cell phone to the car, than i am interested. Right now getting the noise in the steering sorted out, is top priority for me atm. Am thinking its the top bearings on the struts, need t o investigate a bit further.

Thanks again I'll let you know hoe I get on with it.

I am also believeing that the language isn't Spanish. It appears the car came from Canada, so I am thinking it may be talking French. The guy from the selling dealer speaks Spanish and he didn't seem to think that was it. <shrug> who knows? The mp3 is there for all to listen to.

I will be posting more of the jabbering that comes from the radio.. Sounds to me after the long speech this thing put out today that it may be using various languages one of which is clearly French.

Hope you get things sorted out at home, my wife's best friend of 50 years died last week unexpectedly so I have things here at home as you do.

Regards,

J T
