Get an agm battery as they are superior to EFB ones. new battery needs to be coded. Think it’s just a change of serial number so car recognises it needs to restart the charging program.
If you are changing type I think that needs coded too.
Someone posted a link on here to a very cheap supplier. Think Tanya,tayna... something like that.

Where can i get it coded?

Will there be any harm if i cant get access to vcds?

i need something quick :(

Dealer and anyone with vcds.
Not tried it but might be able to code it with obd11 or carista.
Try the vcds map.
Won’t do any harm in short term. Just won’t be optimally charged.

i currently have an efb battery. is it ok to buy an agm to replace it without coding it for the time being?

Got a Bosch AGM replacement for £170.

AA have fitted it and coded it all.

AA guy was a sound rs3 owner encouraging me to get a response delete

not bad for £170 fitted and coded. AA quoted me £300 for agm when mine went. Luckily still had warranty

Did you check with Audi before you bought a battery that yours wasn’t one of the batteries that are being replaced? Quite a few on here have had them replaced, including me, because the original batteries were faulty.
