Sat Nav Activation Costs

Yes they do. They turn off at three years. Hence why mine do not show, and after challenging Audi about it I have confirmation emails from both Audi Connect and Audi Customer Services stating they turn off.

You’re wrong as shown in my picture below. The last update is always there in case you need to reinstall it. Any future updates are paid for.

I'm hardly wrong, considering I've posted the reply from Audi Connect stating so as a JPEG.

Are you in the UK and drive an A3? You are aware this is primarily a UK based forum (and this is the A3 section), therefore the advice and general information is UK based, and thus may differ from other parts of the world and other models.

Haha! this is not a U.K. based forum. There are people posting from all over the world so don’t alienate them. I am posting as a person with experience of the PFL system and Fl system, based on a U.K. car and now a Swiss car. Is that a problem for you? I think both of you are looking up info on the internet and thinking it applies to all systems, PFL models or FL models.

I'm talking to an independent VW/Audi specialist near me; he should have the kit to install, and his labour charges'll be more reasonable. If he can I I'll just buy the card from the nearest Audi dealer.
General Labour changes from an independent may be more reasonable but what “people” don’t realise is “we” pay an access charge for online network access and need to factor this in. People think “activation should be FOC” or “activate for £10 as the work takes 15mins”, ain’t as simple as that unfortunately.

I don't have any problems, however you attitude in your responses indicates you do, personally I suggest you go and kick back, have a little smoke and chill your boots.

You need to re-read my post.

This is PRIMARILY a UK based forum as I said, which it is.

I also refer you back to Audis actual response to the disapearing maps. I also have an Audi UK reference case as I challenged it further. If you have further issue with it, please take it up with Audi and report back when you get a response.

Is that a yearly subscription type of affair or do they charge pay per use kinda thing?

Posting and then editing after someone has replied is not correct. It’s actually a form of bullying so I would be careful. Evidence of your initial post is there to see in my quote.
Anyway,I’m done with this. Enough has been said to help the OP, rest is just stupid...

Nope, my edit was immediate as I had spelling errors also, I always reread what I write to ensure it is correct and make relevant adjustments where needed. What happened was, you bounced into 'action' far to quickly to make your 'point' instead of waiting to make an educated reply. Reflect rather than react, plays for a much more harmonious existence.

But the 'bullying' comment has me in tears, oh my days, thats the funniest, next to being 'careful', hysterics.

I wouldn't say my conversation with the OP and other posters is 'stupid' at all.

Take care x

Apologies to dig up an old
Post; But I don’t suppose you remember the name or how to find said Polish site?

I’ve generated FSC codes for my BMW before so not bothered by faff; and I’ve “acquired”2020 maps for my Wife’s 2015 A3 Sportsback ( MiB1) but it’s got no licenses installed just 2015 maps.

On a side note; can VCDS or similar generate the licenses? I used a program on my BMW that let me generate a lifetime FSC / license code.. and I have found a Russian site offering lifetime codes but I’m not too keen on that option.

Finally, and apologies for lots of Q but you seem knowledgeable... I’m not against paying Audi but can I get a 3/5 year license or is it one per year? Cause £350-450 for a year is out of the question but for 5 years and “acquired” maps that’s not too bad.

Thank you in advance

Which MIB1 do you have, Standard or High?

VCDS and alike cannot generate or insert FSC codes.

Ah ok! Thanks for the quick response!

I believe it’s a MiB High; firmware MHIG_EU_AU_P1531. That’s based on the tool at upgrademyaudi.net.

Apologies if I’ve said anything stupid; within a week of having a Audi in the household I’ve realised how may variations they have across there Tech and there’s so many subtle differences.

EDIT: Just looked on the myAudi app. Defo Navigation System - High

I rang two Audi garages last week, one is 45 miles from me, the other about 90 miles, I have nothing nearer.

One quoted me just shy of £700, the other just shy of £500, both give or take a couple of £££

I'm giving it some thought, it would be nice to have it working, but ATM using a £150 Tom Tom, which has updates for life, live traffic data and sits on a magnet between my S3 air vents. Doesn't look bad and works well.

See; you’ve got a strong point. £500+ is extortionate for what it is ie an activation. The maps are already available ( as is produced for other models / cars with activation) . In my eyes I would expect to pay for an hours labour ( same as getting a fault diagnosis) to allow for a license creation.

Whenever we get new ( second hand) cars; I always try to do the stuff you’ll never justify after 6 months ownership ie wheel refurb / decent paint detail and maps / software updates. Hence why I’d consider £300ish. But not £500.

Maybe I’ll give that Russian website another look

Its day light robbery!

Plus, if Audi did do it for around £300, they would have loads of business I'm sure!!

£280 quoted at Bexley Audi...

However I got my MIB unit hacked so updated maps for life so wont ever be paying those figures...

Don’t suppose you could PM me who did that; or in the direction of a DIY guide?

Like I said I know how and where to source the update files; I just need to figure out the Activation part!

Ah! Well; I’ll keep that in mind! Downside I’m up in Manchester and the wife won’t let me take her new pride and joy apart and post bits!

But genuinely; I’ll consider it if I can’t find a solution in the Northwest! Thank you!

Alix has already replied- takes two minutes to remove the MIB, and to be honest, you'll still save money over Audi prices driving to see Alix in North London!

Next question; how do you drop a PM on this forum?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Click the name of the person, its in red, and then in the pop up, click 'start a conversation'.

But don't bother with Alix, him and PM's arent friends, just call him :)

Big Thank You to DJAlix ; successfully added the latest maps and required licenses on Friday. Big recommend to anyone looking through this thread.

For those looking to go fully legit; I contacted “huntingdonaudi” on eBay and received this response:

huntingdonaudi:

Good Morning

We can supply you with the correct update for your A3, it will be a 2020/2021 maps which will be £220

But i have just checked and Audi have not yet released this for ordering yet and the 2020 version is not being made any more so i cannot get this one

The best thing to do it to follow me on ebay and i will add this as soon is it opens for ordering
