Thinking about getting a res delete but have a few questions first

-When selling the car back to Audi will i have to remove it ?

-How would i explain it to the insurance ? (It was difficult enough trying to add another driver with the language barrier)

Also are there any recommendations of where to get it done in Scotland

1) Yes as Res delete isn't stock. Whether they'd notice, is another question
2) I used exhaust modification - no power increase

I've got (along with many others here) the BCS Res delete, they can ship it to you and you can get it fitted by a local garage. Plus side with this is it can be easily swapped out with the stock resonator if needed :)

My plan is to put the resonator back on before I sell it, will be sold or whatever (BCS res delete) so one of the more expensive ones. And morally I suppose you should put it back anyway.

My insurance just consider it an exhaust mod with no extra power.

Did you end up doing this?? Thinking about doing the same to my S3!

Just buy the BCS version...not cheap, but worth the price over other res delete options. Believe me, I have had both and the BCS version removes the issues of drone, nasty cold start noise etc. I binned the straight pipe res delete within a week.

No warning lights or anything like that with the BCS res?? Also, I know that the ppf filter is supposed to stop the exhaust tips from getting black like the older models, is that still the case after the res delete is fitted?

No nanny lights.....You are just removing the OEM resonator, which has nothing to do with PPF operation

You'll get errors if you unplug the valves without coding it, to remove those messages you'd need to code out the valves (what I did) or buy these blanking adapters which are around £35. Note that with valves disabled, even the BCS pipe drones, can be annoying on the motorway but I simply love the noise too much to code the valves back in :)

Hi
Very interested in your post regarding the BCS resonator delete pipe as like you I have a saloon and therefore your experience is likely to be more comparable than hatch versions. Mine is 2020MY so fitted with the additional PPF only have 800 miles on car so far.
Do you have any sound files of your car post fitting the BCS bypass pipe? I am gathering from your comments it was money well spent and hasn't spoiled the ride quality when not using the car enthusiastically? There was some mention of discount on the BCS pipe if you subscribed to this forum, were you able to use this advantage?
New to car and new to this forum so appreciate any advice on this before I commit to it.

I had a BCS Res delete on my 2017 S3 Saloon, did not regret in the slightest, 0 drone in my opinion (did not turn off the valves) and think with forum discount it was around £250 all in.
Note that I don't think the current PPF cars with Res delete are able to get an equivalent sound of pre-PPF (i.e crackles and pops) but think it does make the engine note a bit louder.

Yes I got an Audi-Sport discount. Sound clips are useless in my opinion...none are true to actual sound. The BCS is very nice in normal mode and in S mode (all exhaust valves open) mode even better. That was the difference, in all modes a straight pipe was obnoxious in my opinion.

My thanks to both @Adam14 and @Flying Scotsman for the replies which both relate to S3 Saloon and BCS res delete in specific so your comments are most appreciated. I have sent a message to Nige@ BCS and will most likely follow your leads and use the BCS solution it sounds as if that will give me an improved sound without ruining the otherwise excellent cabin ambiance.
Thanks Guys.

Could you explain this for me? I have no idea what that means sorry!

Stree, he is talking about the exhaust valves and leaving them in the open position all the time.

@Stree I'm saying that if you want to open the valves permanently for more noise, you either code this via VCDS, unplug them yourself and tape up (not recommended) or buy these blanking adapters which remove the error codes which would appear as the car senses an 'error' with the valves. Best way is to code them out, need someone with VCDS to do that.

Right ok I think I get that, but would putting a straight pipe in place of the resenator (Red delete) cause those error messages?

No, the actual res delete pipe won't cause any errors, only if you unplug the valves rather than code them out you'd have errors. If you're not touching the valves then you'll be fine.

Great! Thank you!

Anyone have any videos of their post PPF/GPF S3 exhaust sound? Before and after res delete! I’ve searched all over YouTube not found much in terms of actual driving sound of an S3 with PPF filter!

I think one of the latest CarWow videos has a clip of one revving..It is a review of the S3 and the Merc C something or other? lol

Revving a car in neutral does not show true sound and most sound video/audio clips I have heard sound **** anyway. The engine has to be under load to show the true character of the exhaust note. My res delete sounds way better than that last post.

is your res delete on a post PPF model S3 Scotsman??

I’ll try get my res delete with de-cat loaded on start up, possibly a drive by if I get chance.

OK Guys thanks for all the input on this thread, I have done the deed and Nige from BCS is sending me Anti Drone BCS Resonator delete kit. Got a little bit of discount as a forum member so that was very welcome, spoke to him on the phone to arrange purchase, what a thoroughly nice chap; really friendly and I am only buying a res delete pipe but it was as if i were buying a complete system. Really recommend them on experience so far.
Once I have it fitted will give feedback on this thread as to how it performs as mine is fitted with the Petrol Particulate Filters. Not expecting pre-PPF sounds but by all accounts it should offer a definite improvement to the level of sound emitted. Fingers crossed!

Hi Guys
Anyone on here got the BCS res delete near Dorset or Hampshire?
I'd like to listen, I've the straight through pipe from progressive parts but not really happy with it.

Can confirm. Mine also sounds way better than that but it is hard to capture it in a recording.

Would massively appreciate a video of the sound after you get this done!! (hopefully a decent video as well, most are not the best)

agree with above, would be great to get some decent footage of before and after that’s isn’t recorded on a potato or just revving in neutral!
