So I've got an A3 with the Chorus sound system from factory (only 2 boring speakers).

I bought an original BLAUPUNKT sub and rear speakers. I've layed all cables under the doortrims to the dash but try to figure out the best way to get a constant 12v for the sub.

The perfect situation would be going under the steeringwheel inside the engine bay to power it from the battery but I can't seem to find a good spot to poke the cable through?

I also looked into the fuse box and I see I got a fuse open for the "steckdose kofferraum" which I don't have. Maybe just put a cable in there with a 10A fuse.

Do others have advice?
Bear in mind I'm Dutch so the steeringwheel is on the other side :D.

I've wired sub in my previous car directly from battery and that is the advised way of doing it.
You also need proper wiring kit for it: thick red cable with say 20A or bigger glass tube fuse and thinner black wire for ground to chassis.
Also, a switch wire needed. Usually blue.

Attached picture of a kit for sub up to 1500W with set of RCA cable, to give signal from HU to amp, and with 60Amp fuse.

I would advise you to run red power cable as far from signal RCA cable as possible.
Say you run RCA cable under door trim (either left or right). So ideally, you run that power cable on the oposite side.
I used centre console to come out behind dashboard and poked through firewall, behind glove box.
Before adding the cable to the battery clamp, cut off about half a metre (or suitable length) and put fuse inline. Secure it to the body or non moving parts.
Make sure you use loop terminals crimped to the wire.
With sub in the boot, ground it to chassis somewhere in the boot. Scrape some paint to bare metal and screw it tight in with spring washer + included loop terminal.

That is the best way to wire it and avoid any signal interference on the amp or sub.

Switch wire need to be connected to HU or any power cable which is after ignition.

Thanks for your clear and long explanation!

I've already tested the setup and it works well. I have the stock Blaupunkt sub and run the power cord + remote power cord for the build in AMP on the left side of the car and the RR RL signals on the right.

The reason I ask this is that I tested it by connecting the power cord to a spare 10A fuse in the fusebox.

I want to connect them properly to the battery but cant seem to find a way to poke the cables through the firewall

No worries.
Thought you are getting started with it.

Try behind glove box.
There should be some rubber grommets with existing wiring going through the firewall.

I would not recommend tapping in to or connecting directly to fuse box.

Wire it as per factory given its a factory install.
