We use a mobile as our house phone on a PAYG tariff , much cheaper than BT 3p a minuet 1p a text, a couple of months ago our provider withdrew the tariff for new users and have contacted us several times to change to pay monthly, now our signal is either non existent or very poor, both my daughter and i have the same provider and get good signal on our phones so i have tried the sim in both of our phones and guess what, no or very poor signal, can providers do this ?

Not sure but I expect there will be a phone guru amongst us here shortly to clarify.
Sounds very co-incidental though.

I would say you've proved they can, so either swap to another supplier, takes 24 hours via your pac code of which they're legally bound to provide immediately on request or goto monthly, simples.

Whatever you do don't ride it out as I've twice fell into the trap of having rubbish reception and calling the provider who said they were "undergoing improvements" which was believed until after the point where contracts could be cancelled so was stuck with phones that couldn't phone!
