Im experiencing traction issues with My S4 ever since the temperature dropped and the roads have become greasy. When I sometimes floor it The traction light flickers This appears to happen on greasy roads. Cars only done 7000 miles and I’ve never had this before. Any1 experienced this ? Really starting to worry me don’t want it to be a haldex pump or something along those lines.

I'd say it's a good sign your traction is kicking in when flooring it in the current conditions.

Doubt it’s a Haldex issue because our cars don’t have them... Ours are full mechanical so I doubt it’s the drivetrain and more the laws of physics as mentioned above. When it’s cold, wet and slippy you’ll just have significantly less traction so don’t worry about it.

If it makes you feel any better I’ve had the TC light flash up in the warm and dry when accelerating onto a dual carriageway.

Ok thx for that mate ,Thought Quattro would mean no traction loss In any condition. Sorry only been driving for 3 years and this is my first Quattro car so sorry if question sounded stupid haha .

Nope, awd just means that when you do crash you'll just be going faster than with 2wd.

Maybe check out IAM Roadsmart or some performance driving courses on a circuit.

Definitely not the case! Your tyres only have so much grip they can give so if you get beyond that they'll always start spinning. Just means that it's spread out a little better with 4WD versus 2WD so you can put more of the available power down at any given time.

Only three years driving and into a new S4 already? Nice choice, just be careful. :)

I don’t find that around the 5-7 degree mark there’s a massive difference in grip between summer and winters to be honest. Below that I feel like the winters work better and above that summers seem better but we’re right in the temperature range that it could swing either way I’d say. Although the winters do tend to deal better with standing water in my experience, so I’m putting mine on this week.

And of course on an S4 there is a none too minor issue of the 350+ ponies trying to make it onto the road at once - slightly more judicious use of the loud pedal perhaps might help??

I forgot I had the traction control in sport mode when I floored it around a roundabout which was slippery. Certainly got the heart pumping.

If this post isn't trolling... I'm genuinely concerned for my insurance renewal.

Someone with only 3 years driving experience, who doesn't understand basic driving behaviours bombing around in a 350bhp car in the cold & wet...

Nope not trolling Check my profile where I’ve posted many pics of the car.... And I only press the Loud pedal when it’s safe to do so and the national limit applies or on a dual carriageway. Anyway I drive within my ability and more importantly within the cars ability :). Just because I have 3 years experience doesn’t mean I can’t drive, I’ve taken Advanced driving courses I was just posting a general question.... that’s all.

It was mainly the part were you thought the 4w drive system on the S4 shouldn’t battle for traction, because it had 4w drive, despite physics. Let’s put it this way, it a very odd question to ask. This is why people think you are trolling.

I could only have dreamt of owing a S4 three years into my license. Wish you many smiles per Gallon.

The OP isn't trolling but seems to have mastered the art of the humblebrag.

Also, don't be concerned about your insurance renewal, think of his - imagine how much it costs for a 20 year old with an S4. Can't be many insurers providing cover at that age unless fronting (which the OP obviously wouldn't be doing as that is illegal).

Exactly that.... The Insurance wasn’t too expensive less than £2000 with no Box this car was cheaper to insure than the S3.

Wow, I was on a different path at 20 years of age that's for sure

Very busy trying to make my student loan stretch to one more snakebite & black each term, rather than financing expensive cars and paying two grand car insurance...

We are all free to go our own way!

Fair enough mate But I worked hard to be able to afford it at such a young age A lot of sacrifices were made. Same with my Mates who also own High performance cars like An M3 F80 And A Nissan GTR. We all grafted and got a bit of finanacial support I admit But nevertheless all of us have worked from a young age.
Car is Fine now Just maybe the poor weather conditions had something to do with it Lesson learnt I guess! :)
