Hi,

Whats the best and easiest way of changing the colour of the Quattro lettering on the bottom of the front grill?

I’m wanting to go red with it... was thinking gel lettering to go on top, but then you’d still see the grey on the sides :grimacing:

Any advice/ideas/experience welcome

Nardo... just fancying a change, make it stand out a little more and match the red on the front RS badge

Oh, ok........not sure the RS3 needs any more ‘standing out’ but each to their own.

Enjoy.

Here’s an example of what I’m after (all be it, not on a Nardo RS)...

I was hoping you could buy the letters from Audi as I want the lighter colour ones from the sport edition. Anyone know if you can do this?

OP if you can do that the you could just paint them

Not sure but I believe that the badge can be removed and replaced (its stuck on) with a different colour item i.e.

Amazon product

Good thinking... if they can be removed and more bought, would make a colour change a lot easier

Martin, those look like the PFL options, not the ones that come on the lower FL front grill

probably right - I just did a quick ebay search - I am sure there are more around...

I think you could be correct.
Not sure if the letters are individually or if it’s a single set of letters?

Either way the letters should be easy enough to remove as probably stuck on the same as the badges on the rear end of the RS.
Use a hairdryer on a low heat to soften the glue then use dental floss or equivalent and run it behind the letters to remove it.

I’ll investigate tomorrow and see if they can be removed individually :icon thumright:

Hopefully as you say, they are just held on the same as the rear badges

I asked this on a FB group the other day and got directed to BlackLabelz....have ordered a Red badge for my Nardo :)

Awesome... do you mine saying how much the Quattro red badge is delivered mate?

Are you going to remove the original lettering before applying these, or put them over the top?

27 Euro for the badges and about 9 Euro for delivery (I'm in Australia)

Pretty sure they are designed to go over the top of the original badges - I'm not even sure the originals come off. Will know more when they arrive, and may have to FB msg them if it's confusing lol.

Messaged them this mornings so just waiting for a reply

From a quick look, I think they might just be stuck on so will come off... I think the red gel’s might look a bit off with the grey 3D sides of the letters still showing?!

Easiest way I would think is to just get the letters wrapped whilst they're still attached. Should be fairly cheap to do!

Initially thought that... bit there nowhere within miles and miles of me that are particularly good at wrapping! Had my roof done and had to travel best part of 125 miles for it... little far just to have the letters done haha

Looks good!

Was it easy to change the letters?

Cheers!

The gel lettering just goes right on top of the original letters... they’re a pretty nice fit to be fair and unless you get down for a real close look you can’t tell the originals behind... doing it this way makes it easy to remove in the future if needed too and have the OEM look back

Looks great Phil. I'm waiting on mine from Blacklabelz in same colour. Hope it's not an overkill on my catalunya red

Thanks mate... I’ve seen a couple of Catalunya Red RS’s with it done, it definitely looks the part I think, nicely finished the front off :sunglasses:

Phew, glad to hear that. I was a bit worried. I see you have changed the RS grill badge as well. I mentioned to Patric about making one for me that has a gloss black square and the letters all done in red against the black background. As a one off it would be expensive so I will wait until I get the letters done.

Looks good, how are they attached, 3m tape?

Any chance of a close up shot please?

They are in affect just gel stickers... to as easy as peel and stick on top! make sure the surface is as clean as you can get it, and that you put a little warmth into the gel before sticking it down and job’s a good’n

I like the idea mate! It’s the little personal touches that just finish these cars off... I don’t think their shape/style needs anything major changing

I would have loved all the badges to have been yellow, but I’d have to change my callipers to match and also the centre ring in my alloys... so it was easier keeping the red haha

How you you remove the badge off the grill? I might go with my personalised badge if it's easy!!

The two badges on the front grill are just clipped on, but you need to go easy with them as only plastic and easily broken.

Plenty of videos on #youtube.
Many of the videos use a ‘trim tool’ to prise them off.

Many thanks

I’ll ratch out the one I took off and take some photos of the clips, at least then you’ll be able to see what you’re dealing with...

Much appreciated!

Just a quick photo looking down on the badge... you can see the clips at both end, that you have to push inwards to release them... just be careful not to drop the back of the badge when it’s un-clipped, as you’ll need it to put the new one on! As said above, just watch a couple of YouTube videos and they’ll show you how it’s done
