Hi
Got a 2018 RS3 with LED matrix headlights.
I can't seem to figure out and understand what the 'Activation time' setting does?
Looked in the manual but still don't quite get it.

Can someone explain it to me in layman's terms?

On my 2017 A6 with LED Lights - the setting if memory serves me right is like a Security light setting on what day light strength the light would go on - early would be the light source in the sky at just before dusk the head lights would come on - medium when it is just about to go dark the headlights come on and late nearly dark when they come on.

Early would be best as in the rain and the clouds go dark they would come on.

So essentially the setting changes how sensitive it will turn on the auto headlights. Early meaning just as the sun goes down, and Late meaning when its pitch black.

I would go with your thoughts - never tested the system as it is fine as set as present.

It certainly doesn't need to be pitch black when set to late...

Ive got mines set to late and they still come on in the morning when its ****** sunny lol

As it adjusts the "sensitivity of the light sensor" I would agree with others here that it should bring on the headlights in varying degrees of lighting intensity (or darkness levels). I have mine set to "medium" and never really checked it.

Is it not timed so you can go under bridges etc without them flicking on then off again. i.e. early they will come on virtually straight away, late would be a longer delay?

It's the ambient light under bridge that turns them on/off. You are correct. If it's a small bridge and you have set lights to "late" then they will P r obably not come on at all.
