Just wondering who's running a dash cam and which one. Any footage that can be shown? Got a cheap one for Christmas, wired it just into the cigarette charging point see how I get on with it. Love watching the multitude of idiots on YouTube that dont have a clue how to drive.

I run a front and rear camera set (Blackvue DR750S) on my A6 Avant and the cameras are brilliant. The downside was that the rear camera feeds off the front cam so I had to run the wire behind the trim through the length of the car. Power feeds off the rear seat center console’s cigarette lighter plug, cable behind the trim of the gear selector/central console, up above pedals, and into an empty compartment and up through the windscreen trim to the cam next to rear view mirror, so semi hardwired.

Fortunately, haven’t captured any crashes yet but some poor driving definitely.

I got front and rear Thinkware Q800 Pro hardwired to the front NS fuse box.
Rear cam cables are running above headliner to the front dome light area. From there, front camera below rear view mirror.
Power cables down to fuse box behind A pillar trim.

Upgraded memory card and have parking mode running and get loads of running time.

Here's a low light video sample:

Will check if have any daylight and night time videos or any rear cam ones.

Love the camera, must say.

It was another odd £100-£200 more than this one, for the 4K model but for what it is, it's wicked.

BTW,
I got my camera from Thinkware UK's main supplier and have 10% (if not 15%) discount code on anything from them.
Code is a multiple use so can be abused.

Will look for it and post it in

Their technical support is second to none.

Just checked and promo code doesn't work. Sorry

I have the Thinkware F770 F/R.
Was installed in my Q5 and has been re-installed in my M40i X3. Can’t fault it, and not expensive at all at around £220.

Parking mode works great, and here is some footage of me hitting a small deer a few weeks back (was useful for insurance claim)

I’m defo getting cams in both cars, with front and rear facing cams. Will wait until new car arrives then get both vehicles done.
I’m hopeless with electrics and wiring so will need it installed for me.

I did have one in my old bus for a few months last year but not sure it was of any real benefit for my application, its been in my desk draw ever since.
LV said it had no influence on my insurance premiums either.
I suppose it's down to individuals really.

I wouldn’t say it would help on premiums at all. But can help with verifying your story or what happened in the case of an accident.

Absolutely. Can in some cases make the big difference between a payout or not. Also invaluable evidence in case of a hit and run to prove no fault on your part in case the other party disappears into the wind and there is no other account of what happened and you can’t prove yours otherwise.

But do insurance companies really rely on dash cam evidence in the claims wether there are witness's or not, i'm not conviced.
One of my neighboors was hit from rear by a driver recently, the driver then went off the radar, there was cam footage but ins company declined to use it for the claim and he still had to cover the cost even though the cam clearly showed the other driver was in the wrong.
Ins company was Direct Line that make a big thing about covering drivers in this situation, clearly not the case.

Surely the ombudsman responsible for the insurance industry can sort something like that out the correct way and be more open minded in what evidence to consider the decision upon? After a time consuming and tedious process, no doubt.

Hi.
Just to let you know that a number of our insurance schemes offer discounts for the fitment of a HD dash cam.
Regards,
Dan.

That's handy to know as my LV is due for to expire very soon so may well look for a more competitive quote.

Would it have to hard wired by a professional and have documented proof of fitment sent to Adrian flux to prove fitment. As I'm with adrian flux but just fitted mine over Christmas as it was a gift routed into cigarette charging point.
