Ok so my mum got her TT TDI cam belt changed this week. I thought that was a bit strange as its a 2009 with 53k on the clock. Apparently it needed doing as its over 5 years old.
This got me slightly worried as my S3 is 5 years old soon and has 54k on the clock.
I've checked my service schedule and it says the toothed belt doesn't need changing until 114miles. Theres no mention of 5 years. You'd be doing well to be doing nearly 23k miles a year!
researching on t'interweb including ASN there are a few opinions on when it should be changed;
4 years or 60k miles
5years or 75k miles
75k miles, no timescale
60k miles no time scale.
You don't need to change it because its chain driven.
Now I'm confused????
Does anyone know the actual mileage or age it needs changing?
Thanks
