My wife has a 2019 S Line Q2, previously she owned a 2012 A1.

The Q2 doesn't have Auto aircon, just the manual version, however with the cold mornings the windscreen take a long time when compared to the old A1 (press the windscreen button and the blowers went to max on the windscreen).

She has it set to Aircon on, switch to the windscreen and blowers on max but it takes around five mins to clear every cold morning.

Is this a function of the lack of auto aircon on the spec or something we've missed? I've been through the manual but can't see anything obvious that we've missed. Any tips welcomed

Not sure really. Mine has the auto air con with the digital dials. Even in low blower setting and set to the front screen, it still clears quickly. Have you cleaned your glass recently? Read somewhere that one major cause of misting up is dirty windows, Might be worth cleaning the front window.

as a side note, weird that the s-line doesn’t have climate control with the digital display.

Nothing to do with air con as you'll only be heating when demisting the screen. The difference between ordinary air con and climate is the number of sensors controlling it...

Aircon (when turned on) does de-humidify the air though (whether you have auto or manual versions)...great for windscreen clearing and for when you have a runny nose....

Thanks all, the aircon does clear the windscreen, as cosmicblue suggested above. It just seems to take much longer than the A1 used to (a car that was 7 years older :) )

I know that it can be used to heat or cool and that it's the de-humidifying that makes the difference.

I'll try cleaning the windscreen at the weekend and see if that helps at all.
 
Air con also removes moisture from the cabin, that's why there are puddles of water under the vehicle. However below a certain temperature the air con will turn itself off, just like climate. A/C systems also have a humidity sensor...
 
Do make sure re-circulation is turned off - otherwise that damp air stays in the cabin.

Only if the drain hole isn't blocked. That water will just end up back in the car if it is, probably on the windows because they're the coldest part of the cabin.
 
The air con drain tube is connected to the evaporator and if that's blocked you might get a bad smell as well from bacteria growing on the evaporator..
 
Thanks all, no bad smells and I'm hoping that as the car is only 6m old the drain isn't blocked (will check it out if needed though).

I cleaned the windscreen and although it didn't appear dirty I have my fingers crossed that when it eventually stops raining, and we have a cold snap again. it might be better :)
 
I am sure it will, unfortunately mine is the same, as has all my previous vehicles, when the weather is like this. Remember also you are bringing into the cabin moisture as well...
