so after an enjoyable 2 years of ownership the s5 is being early terminated by 2 months as the replacement has arrived, I was far fetched to find anything similar for the monthlies on lease and didnt want to buy anything over 20k as dont really use the car much (13k miles in 2 years)

Overall the s5 is a fantastic car to own and drive even as a daily. Not impressed with the mpg but hey ho.

Replacement is a 2014 audi q5 s line plus (dare i say 2.0tdi) though dated inside the 264 mile trip back from collection was very relaxed and enjoyable. Not saying the s5 was any less on long journeys but overall 40mpg and by no means did i feel overly out of place or disheartened by not being in the s5,

Heres to many years of happy motoring to come and the forum has been and will be a great place as always.

I hope you enjoy the new beast

Enjoy the new motor, although not sure you buy an S5 for the fuel economy mind.

Assume you need a bigger and more practical car, hence the Q5?

Nooo, I've done under 6,000 in 20 months and I know that like you I should downsize and save on the monthly outgoings. But then I do the man math!!! I could easily save £100 per month by getting something small and fun like a fiesta ST3, but then I think that breaks down to £25 per week or £3.50 per day, if someone said to you "You can have either a Ford Fiesta or an Audi A5 coupe for £3.50 a day more, which would you go for?"....then my head jumps straight back to square one and I'm back in an Audi and common sense has gone out of the window

Enjoy the new car, the Q5 is nice.

Not really due to needing more space, My girls are 6 and 8, they prefer going out in the mini instead of s5 as they cant see through the window in their booster seats, its a host of excuses to justify not getting another beastly car tbh.

Nothing to say i wont be tempted by the new sq5 as they come down in price over the next few years

The sq5 in pre facelift though a diesel sounds awesome and the new ones sound beefier than the s5.

Why get a nasty oil burner if you do such low mileage?

Having owned the q5 since july i can honestly say there is a huge difference in fuel economy,

i tank up with 100 pounds of vpower diesel no more than once a month achieving 400 miles or so, as opposed to the s5 giving 180 to a tank if i was lucky on the same journeys

miss the s5 immensely but keeping happy overall with the comfort and cost savings of the q5

you must have be driving it like it was stolen ! My S4 B9 petrol gets about 400 on very tank since new, done 30K miles now. Long term average is 33 . Summer I do 36-38 average, winter 30-32...

Very similar to my B9 S5, actually getting better MPG on my winter tyres, averaging 35 whereas in summer it's about 32 average (long term).

You must have the lightest foot! My long term average is 25mpg, in my commute I get about 18mpg.

Not really! I do a lot of motorway/dual carriageway with work so a fair amount of cruising which keeps the Mpg high. Plenty of booting done when the opportunity is there

Not heavy footed at all

smooth drive into work of 7 miles dual carriage way

on way home same 7 miles are in start stop traffic

Mines gone. After 30 months, 21,500 miles with average 21.9mpg or just over £6k in fuel cost (not that I care but am a geek who likes stats). Loved every minute. Awesome car and apart from an annoying rattle from the trim in the rear was faultless.

Moved onto a Porsche 911 Carrera S (992). Have always wanted one and thought if I don’t do it now I never will.

I will no doubt be back to Audi at some point but the move to diesel on the S cars is not for me.

Hope all are well,

so after a 7 month ordeal with the q5 I have placed a deposit on an approved used a5 2.0tdi ultra s line.

Will not be as entertaining as the s5 im sure but will be hopefully more involved than the q5 which although comfortable and serves purpose, i just could not gel with the lack of feel in the drive.

Update:

the 2.0tdi turned out to be an ex rental so had to cancel purchase as not comfortable with 40k miles of potential abuse

i am now due to pick up a my2019 mythos black 40tfsi in the sport-back guise tomorrow afternoon from audi sydenham

good job im shattered so will sleep through the excitement
