Test drove a X3 M40i yesterday

I wish that event was still on. 22% discount and 2.9% would have probably seen me sign for one there and then.
@wab172uk - The 2.9% finance deal is on for new cars registered and delivered on or before the 31st December 2019
I'm sure there will be some stock X3 M40i's left at some BMW dealers in the Uk

Imagine if you had ugly looking kids! That would be tough :p

I'd just trade them in after 3 years for something better looking and cheaper to run !

I changed 3 weeks ago from an Audi S6 67 Plate to a BMW X3 M40i and it is truly a fantastic car and the acceleration seems more urgent than the Audi S6. The deals offered on the stock cars during the “Black Friday” BMW car event was truly amazing with 2.9% APR and 22% discount, this meant the deal was exceptional good!

Normally it would be 4.9% apr and about 12-16% discount!

I have been with audi for about 6-7 years after changing from BMW but pleased to be back in a BMW now as Audi for me had lost something.

If you have any doubts about the new X3 M40i then go an try it out! I was blown away.

Nice work. They certainly have been doing insane deals. A colleague of mine has just gone (collecting today) from A4 avant 1.4 BE to a......wait for it.......X4M Competition. They had bought the Audi cash for £30k 2 years ago, got £17k, and with £500 deposit will be using the £17k to pay the £550 p/m. I personally would have put more deposit it, but they calculated the Audi had cost £650p/m taking into account depreciation

Cracking car these M40i’s. Don’t slag them off until driven

Mate, where about me are you? As have a very good contact (Sales Manager) @ Cotswold BMW. Pretty sure you could get this kind of deal still before year end, they are pushing sales BIG time.

Feel free to PM me

Tbf had an offer through on a new M5 competition with £20k contribution and 2.9% APR, outrageous deals . If I was feeling less fiscally responsible I might have done it

Ah nice one @BarryG79 cheers

Although, after the first few posts it goes off at a tangent talking about other models :tonguewink:

im testing an SQ5 next weekend but will do the same with the X3 M40 and maybe something like a Discovery Sport just to compare (much less power though).

These current discounts offered by BMW are very good for the new customer, however, I’d be worried that this will also have a detrimental effect on residual values down the line.

Whilst the new X3 M40i may go like s..t off a shovel, I’m afraid, IMHO, I couldn’t live with the external design :puke2:

The X4 and X6’s are, in my opinion, truly horrible looking cars. A real eye sore on the roads. Such a shame when all other BM’s look so smart

As long as you're buying at the heavily discounted price, then it shouldn't be an issue. Only those who buy list will be hit hard.

My thoughts on above test vehicles SQ5 would be my choice, but I am not an SUV fan....now an S5 or RS5 sportback :racer: that is a different kettle of fish!!

For 22% off list, I'd travel. PM sent :icon thumright:

Called into Mercedes and Audi today.
Have a test drive of an A35 AMG hatch booked in for Wednesday. But would be looking to buy the Saloon, if I go that route. Audi had the new RS-Q3 Sportback sat in their showroom. Think it would look better in the standard Q3 form, rather than the sportback. I'm still not sure about the interior though. Feels cheap compared to my S3. But they're going to arrange the demonstrator from Newcastle to be brought down (once registered as a demo) for me to take out.

They also had a White RS3 Saloon sat in the showroom. Never seen an RS3 Saloon in White before. Looked pretty good. High specced, and was listed at just over £54k. I don't know if I could be tempted or not? Think if it had been in Blue or Grey, I might have considered it.

For anyone thinking of an RS3 hatch. They had a basic RS3 Sportback in. Blue, but standard seats and standard wheels. They are trying to shift it, as they've had it 90 days and want off their hands. Maybe it being basic spec (and rather dull looking inside and out) is the reason it hasn't sold? But, if anyone interested .......

£47,850 list. (think they said it had comfort pack)
£2000 Audi contribution.
£6000 Dealer contribution
£499 off for something else I can't remember.

Total. £39,817.38

£499 deposit, and £499 a month on PCP. Teesside Audi

This is true, and historically has been the case with proper M’s. Time will tell for me, but my deposit and final payment look for me to be ok.

I love the look, but that is why there are so many different makes and models. I’m not a fan of the X4, or the front of the M135i or 1 series generally, but to be honest wouldn’t mind changing the wife’s JCW for one of these if the right deal came along.

As is the case with Audi’s, some end up VT’ing due to negative equity, not a manufacturer specific issue, more the silly PCP deals and over inflated final payments.

For me, this is the 1st car in about 5 or 6 that I have wanted to keep longer term.

I considered the X3 M40i when I ordered my Petrol SQ5 in December 2017 and decided I needed air suspension which BMW don’t offer on the X3, otherwise I might have gone for the BMW.

I’ve not lost the plot @jassyo06 I’m simply humouring the wife as I know what it’s “faults” are. She’s got a say as we’re pooling resources as she’s downsizing the TT. Compared to the other two it’s performance (which is important to me) isn’t a patch.

Well said. All SUVs are ugly.

I have just changed my S3 saloon for an X3 M competition, tried both the x3 m40 and the x3 mc and they are great cars, but the speed out of the x3 mc is phenomenal. I have had Audis for the last 15 years and the never thought I would change but I have to say the whole experience with this new car has been 100 times better than i get from Audi. Great choice mate the x3 m40i is a really great car.

They look to be able to offer some good deals, not just on certain cars but across the BMW range.

The 2.9% isn't new though as my mate has just picked up 70k worth of X5 up from Sandal BMW Wakefield on the same rate, still it's one hell of a motor for the monthlies.

Agreed, a very good option Berry for all BM related, including Mini.

Yes, the 2.9% gets rolled out to push certain models, but never heard of it in used before. They even do 0% on some M’s!

My mates isn’t used, it’s a brand spanker.

It was cheaper on the monthlies than used one.

The BMW contribution and dealer contribution is ridiculous really, makes you wonder what the true value of the motor actually is as BMW and the dealer aren’t actually giving you anything, it just looks like they are with the figures being chucked about and so called discounts / contributions.

Still, it’s a lot of car..

Sure is, apologies was an M4 they sent me deals on. Outrageous price considering brand new it's a £75k car! Yet some hard cars aren't even this cheap. I know £656 per month isn't cheap...but for the car it's something else.
I quoted for a new S3 saloon out of curiosity and even with a DTD discount the PCP was £540 a month with a £3k deposit.

That really is a cracking deal, although the GFV is truly shocking. I suppose this just sums up the high level of discounts resulting in bad residuals.

What you get with one hand, you take away with the other......!
