Hi there.
I am a new to this forum so apologies in advance if I am doing this wrong.
Just bought a MTM tuned 2008 3.0 tdi Quattro, what an amazing car! The problem I have is the HID lights are awful just can’t see very far. Is this because the car has been lowered by the last owner if so how do I fix this.
Also the drivers door needs a new lock actuator can I just buy an aftermarket one and get it fitted at the local garage or will it need to be coded by Audi?

thanks

Fraser

The bulbs are probably tired mate.
They don't last forever sadly and over time they lose output.
One of mine failed last year so replaced the pair and what an improvement that was.
I didn't think my original units were that bad until I changed them.
Plenty to choose from online, you need a D3S type, you can pay £30 a pair of eBay upto £200 for uprated higher spec/ higher lumen output and plenty of options in between.
Just be careful on choosing the correct colour, 4500k I believe is the OEM colour, going upto 8000k which are very blue and look pants imo.
Also worth checking are the headlight range sensors.
These are located on the passenger side wishbones, front and rear, (or other side lol can't remember) and are just plastic brackets which snap.
They are about £50 each iirc

Also check headlight covers for stone rash, this can affect light output.

Re, the door lock, sorry can't assist on this one.

Thanks Chez.
I was looking at replacing the bulbs as you say they are not that bright also they look like they are shining just in front of the car, I thought that might have been since the car was lowered. Did know there was actual sensors.
Thanks again for your reply.

Yeah there more level sensors tbh.
Like hinged plastic brackets with a ball joint afair on the suspension arms.
A peak underneath and you will see them.
They snap and droop down

Like this, one on the front one on rear
