Hi,

I’m thinking about buying a car with driver assistance package (lane assist so has the camera). The car is a facelift RS3, so hoping I wouldn’t need a BCM or gateway upgrade etc.

considering I have driver assistance pack already, it simplifies the retrofit by some way.

question is, is it just the headlights I need from there, with maybe some wiring changes and coding? Or would I also need a new gateway/BCM?
Thanks

@DJAlix

I just had some xenons installed by a retrofit specialist in leeds, total pro's, job was done in <1hr and that even included fitting them!!, was advised by many need new switch/ bcm, total rubbish, my car was basic a3 8v sport 2016 model BUT last of the prefacelift thou, whole conversion cost <£350 and that included the lights off ebay standard xenons with ballasts, lights do have odd mark and scuff but wasn't bothered as fitting fly eye film

Xenons are not anything like the complexity of matrix headlamps though, plus I believe the op is referring to auto full beam as well for matrix versions @DJAlix is the man to advise..

I think a new rear view mirror is also needed for matrix LEDs to work properly. There’s a sensor on it to know which LEDs to turn on/off.

As for xenons, I had an aftermarket xenon setup installed on my mk1 S3 8L and it is still better and brighter than my 8V standard LED setup.

It might be worth considering a xenon upgrade instead. Cheaper and potentially just as good, if not better, as per Cream2cream.

did your car already have headlight washers and automatic levelling system?

On mine it is the camera that provides the detection for matrix, however they are also linked to the sat nav.

Hello, nothing a billy basic a3 150 tfsi sportback model, actually i think it was a se model LOL im going to get them to fit cruise the rear latest swipping led lights next soon as can some at realistic prices, cant recommended them enough, had some quotes frm companies £500+ takin hours (lol), these guys <1hr, and to add, they had to reinstall 1 of them lights twice so removal of wheel arch liners/ bumper twice, as the ballast was faulty for led they thought it was there codin, or would of been even cheaper and less time, it was my own mistake as assured them they were working, but thats risk buyin off ebay when u can't test, but at the price im not complaining bought replacement control unit for 25 for the led. so all in £<350 and that doesnt take into account i'ii get £100+ each for my old mint basic lights!!!

When come across a set of matrixs at a cheap price off ebay will get fitted to my next a3, prices have been droppin to around 300 a light or £150 cracked bracket and a scuff, these guys can do anything at the right realistic price, a quick look in there workshop saw 3 2015+ rs6's 1 in for service as spoke to the owner, other 2 engine upgrades, then around 6 8v rs3's and 7 8v s3's all waiting service work and upgrades, and a few stripped out s3's for major conversion engine upgrades, in fact ive never so many RS range audis in a garage not even my local main dealers, was speechless for few minutes!!!!

when i spoke to them on phone they laughed at the thought of needin bcm/ switches and it taking hours, just laughed, did advise prices gets cheaper if can do bulk of fitting yourself, so all they do is coding/ wiring and u do the rest, but wasnt a option as raining and risky driving 150miles with no workin headlights

they work perfect , when indicator the light dim etc... if ur havin issues with yours id give them a try

ive just managed to grab a set off led rear lights off the bay, will b going up there again in nex week or so to get them fitted

the problem will arise when its due an MOT. Vehicles with xenon and LED headlights need to have a method of cleaning and automatic height adjustment or it will fail.

some reading here:

i'ii just fit some washer jets bound to be a set pop up soon, or put lower rated xenon bulbs as not every car that has xenons is required to have washer jets it goes on the rating of the bulbs :icon thumright:

I tried to contact them but they never get back to me. I’ve probably sent 10 WhatsApp’s and some texts, always read them and never bother replying....I want to give them a job but it seems they don’t want my money...
