Hi all, I’m new to the forum. From Yorkshire but living in Gdańsk, Poland. Picked up an APY S3 last weekend as a winter project to keep me entertained and provide some fun when the snow arrives.

Good luck

So what I have learnt from the car in one week of ownership.

- The car is on coil overs (not investigated what yet)
- Stage 2 (according to the previous owner)
- FMIC (which makes stage 2 plausible)
- The car has been fitted with an LPG system
- Very short shifter
- Recaros have been removed and replaced with something from an Alfa
- Full turbo back magnaflow exhaust

All sounds pretty good.

The bad bits.
- Fuel needle doesn’t move and stuck just below half way. (Tried completely filling the tank but no change)
- Exhaust is blowing somewhere. I’m hoping it could be a gasket as sounds up front.
- 18 Dare wheels (not to my taste and too big IMO)
- Brakes are pretty terrible
- Body work is in a terrible state.

I have to say that the feedback when driving is amazing. Especially around some of the country roads in Poland.

This is going to be a drivers car so will wait to sort the body work after winter.

Got my parking spot sorted under my apartment so here is how it is sat at the moment.

Plans
2019
- Swap interior lights for LEDs
- Swap exterior lights
- Have LPG system removed (booked in for the 10th)
- Needs a gasket between turbo/downpipe (Sent a CAD plan to a little unit next to my apartment who are making me a copper one)
- Increase the ride height (Polish roads are absolutely terrible)
- Investigate power steering (currently squealing like a …)
- Clean or replace the fuel sender as my needle is currently stuck on half a tank :)
- Strip the rear seats and possible some sound deadening. Car has a turbo back MagnaFlow system which sounds great with the windows down but I'm not getting enough feedback in the car
- Fit CTS dogbone mount *ordered*
- Fit 034 Billet Shifter Bracket Bushing kit (hoping it will tighten up the very loose gearbox) *ordered*
- Fit Powerflex black Steering rack bush *ordered*
- Fit Corbeau Supersport buckets
- Source some decent 17"s for winter
- Fit either a replacement PCV or Forge (unsure yet)

I'd just like to get some more directness and feel through the wheel. Any suggestions would be great.

2020
- Respray the majority of the car (no point until after winter)
- Look to rebuilding the head for a BT

Poly bush the front wishbones, and the anti roll bar, as well as a good geometry setup, would get you some decent feel from the front end.

If those wheels are heavy and/or have **** tyres that obviously won’t help

Thanks Karl, that's a good shout about the polybushing. Just notice that you had a 2000 S3 same as mine. How did the GTX2867 and power output feel compared to other cars. My last car in the Uk was an Ed30 Mk5 at stage 2 so quite exciting and I am really considering doing a big turbo build next year. Quite a bit more work involved though compared to the MK5 with so many different turbo setups people are using. If I do it I want to do it once if that makes sense :)

The power delivery was savage and it was a reasonably quick car. I’ve not been in or driven a stage 2 ED30 but I imagine they weren’t far off that kind of performance.

There are a lot of turbo options as you need to go big turbo for anything >370hp. You won’t hear anything bad about Garretts G25 range which supersedes my gtx2867 in terms of response and performance. That would be my choice for sure.

There are a couple of members (Prawn and Desertstorm) who have these turbos, so I’d check them out for some inspiration.

Thanks Karl, Ill give there builds a read for inspiration.

I have also read a thread about the roof corrosion coming under warranty. The last message was years ago. Has anyone approached Audi about it recently?

Yeah the anti-perf warranty was only for 12 years iirc. Keep us posted on the build and your progress :)

Ah cheers chaps. Thought that would be the case but worth checking.

Morning all, bit of progress this week. Had the copper exhaust gasket fitted. Exhaust is no longer blowing and I can hear the turbo spool.

Also have the front grill some paint.
