Presently I have 347mm front brakes on my 2.0tdi. Having obtained front calipers and discs from an s6 , 385mm, and 330mm rears with the intention of fitting after a refurb, are there any unforseen problems I may encounter? I originally had the 312mm discs on the front, went up to 321mm and then 347mm so I am expecting a fairly smooth transition(foolish boy)!

Yes the rims are 19's and I don't think overkill is a problem when it comes to brakes.

I’ve looked into s6 brakes for other cars and as far as I could see it was a simple swap.

I currently have a 360mm set up needing a home which is the same calipers just smaller carrier iirc.

Yes, I've looked over the job and it seems a straight swap. Calipers are now powder coated new seals and pistons, brake pads so will be fitting in the next day or two. I could have put the calipers straight on such was their condition, and whilst not a fan of used discs the supplied ones are almost completely wear free and O.E. so I'll give them a try. It might be worth mentioning your saleable items on the various Audi groups on facebook, as well as the trading post on here. I only mentioned that I was replacing mine and they went the same day !!! Good luck with yours, Rod.

I’ll keep hold of them for now as I’m unsure what I’m replacing my TT with at the mo :)

Plus I’m not a Facebooker so I may struggle there.

thanks and please update this thread with how you get on, I’ve always got my ears out for a set but not being able to fit under 18” wheels makes them just a bit too big for me at the moment.

I’ve a friend with an S6 and he does say they are very good but it’s nice to hear other people’s opinions :)

Started fitting the brakes today, 347mm discs and calipers off, 385mm disc on, caliper on, no wait a minute that's tight !!! THEY DO NOT FIT !!!
The carriers off the v10 are different in profile to the a6 carriers in that, they have a bit of a dog leg which causes the inside of the carrier to butt against the disc. There is enough meat to have 4mm machined off but I don't think I will.
So definitively, the S6 V10 calipers will not plug and play on the a6 c6 hubs. It's not the end of the world, I'm happy enough with my brakes, but they would have looked really something, oh well.

That’s properly pants, thanks for the update though, so are you saying the bolt offset on the hub is closer to the disc on a s6? I’m wondering if they would work on a c5 s6 as I know the bolt offset is closer compared to the narrow body C5.

I remember when I had a 2.5tdi a4 and wanted to put s4 brakes on, there were two types of disc with different overall heights when laid flat. The first one was about 8mm higher than the other and gave me the same fitting problem as the s6, the second with the narrower height fitted fine.
Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a narrower 385 disc, however I have an engineering friend looking at the problem, so I'll keep you informed.

I was supposed to fit the 360mm kit on my c5 before going to Scotland but as it’s a wide body the uprights are different and they don’t fit, I’ve thought about fitting different uprights I tried d3 uprights but the arms where slightly different, so rebuilt the original calipers as I ran out of time, hence why they are still sitting here waiting for a home :)

I’m currently contemplating a b7 track car so I’m thinking they may bolt straight onto it, otherwise I’ll see if I can fit narrow body uprights and utilise them on the s6.

thanks for keeping us posted though, let us know how you get round it when you figure it out.

Just a quick update. I had a 7mm spacer made to fit snug between the hub and disc, longer bolts, and all now fitted and working well.

Not had a chance to tread on them yet, I'm being nice and gentle for a few days but will keep you updated.

Having had a few days and a journey to the North East to assess the s6 brakes I think I could say that under normal but wet conditions, they perform well, but not hugely different from my 347mm set. Maybe with the faster accelerating v10 for which they were designed they would show up more, but, like the 347's they only need a gentle touch to slow immediately, this I think is the main difference between normal car brakes, i.e. the 312mm standard a6 set up that you have to really press to slow down. Overall it was worth the effort to do, and even with 19" rims, they look enormous, which I must admit was one of the attractions. Rod.
